Just thought I would have a rant and rave to calm myself down.

Ordered some bedroom furniture from a well known store in August and typical of this country nothing is stocked and it has to be shipped in from Germany - 6 WEEKS DELIVERY!!

Needless to say everything arrived (wardrobe flat packed, 2 wardrobe inserts flat packed, 2 bedside drawers prebuilt in cardboard boxes and a drawer chest also prebuilt in a cardboard surround). On the evening I unpacked the bedside drawers - everything okay, unpacked the drawer chest and noticed a 4 inch chunk missing out of the bottom (which must have been obvious to the delivery guys as they had placed it back to front in the room so the damage was against a wall.) I immediately rang Customer Services who told me not to worry they will order me another one from Germany - oh and it will be 4 weeks!! I managed to get the wardrobe built in a record 4 hours with instructions that looked like they should have been for a toaster. Built 1 wardrobe insert no problems but when I opened the box to the other discovered it wasnt the insert i ordered, infact it was the right packaging but some idiot had put the wrong components in it. So another phone call to Customer Services the next day and the promise of another being ordered from Germany.

Well 4 weeks has passed today and my replacement items arrived, unfortunately I couldnt get home quick enough before they had left so the missus took delivery. I opened up the drawer chest and noticed 2 chunks missing out of a drawer fronT!!! Remembering that the delivery driver had called me off his mobile to advise of a 1 hour delivery slot i called them back literally 40 mintues after they had left and asked if they could return and swop the damaged drawer for one of the drawers on the one they took away "sorry mate you need to speak to Customer Service" was the reply i got!

Rang Customer Services and they said they will order me another one and its another 4 weeks!! I told them it was totally unacceptable and that there was a perfectly useable drawer on the back of one of their lorries which i was willing to accept. They said they will get back to me - 4 hours later and still nothing!

Tempted to go into the store tomorrow with the damaged drawer and a screwdriver and help myself to one of the drawers on display - and hopefully put a few prospective customers off in the process.

i bought a table from Furniture Village, oak with 6 leather chairs

All chairs were fine, but 6 trips from Holland before a table arrived that wasn't damaged, luckly they were leaving the damaged table with me till the new one arrived.

Next cabin bed, took 4 beds before i could put together a bed that wasn't damaged or cracked

Mass produced nowadays

We bought a new dining room table and six chairs a few years ago, this was at the end of October, delivery was promised for the beginning of December, First week of December came and went, called them, yes it will be next week, it came and went, called again, by then we are a week away from Christmas, phoned again, delivery tomorrow, it was supposed to arrive in he morning, 7pm that night it arrived, but no chairs, just a table, the driver said he thought it was odd as most people ordered chairs with tables, three days later the chairs came, all two of them, then two days later a knock at the door, two more chairs, in the end Christmas Eve I had to go to the main distribution hub at Milton Keynes to get the final two chairs so we could all sit down to Christmas Dinner,

Id love to hear the end of the story but I cant wait 4 weeks,

Bensons For Beds, I should have known better as the clues in the title, they might be capable of selling beds but are at selling everything else.

oh i have to laugh / cry!

Opened up the wardrobe insert box today, there should be 22 pieces in the box - there are only 8!!!! Another phone call to Customer Services tomorrow, still no news on the drawer front thats sitting in a delivery lorry somewhere.

Call it a day and move on to barker and stonehouse
