Overstated Fuel claims

News Story on the BBC

Strange story, doesn't actually state what the difference is, will be interesting to know, there are quite a few on here that will be interested by this news although I personally dont think LR have anything to worry about.

Does anyone have experience of the models concerned?

I don't think my old Kia Sportage met its MPG claims, but then neither does my FL2 Laughing

Looks like about 15% as that is what they are re-imbursing customers.

The bad thing about this is not that the car does less than they claim as most of us take manufacturers figures with a pinch of salt, but that we can't even rely on comparing like with like. John

Its 15% over and above any claim made.

There is an item on the FT website that seems to claim that new mpg figures are being used, 26mpg rather than 27mpg, thats only 3% difference Shocked

Can't speak for the US for in the EU, published MPG figures are over a mandated EU drive cycle (NEDC), which strives (and fails) to replicate "real" driving.

So you will never get the published MPG figures.

surely the point is that if you live in the US you will get compensated but over here with the toothless wonders in whitehall and strasbourg you wont get anything, as usual.

Overstated economy figures are nothing new, but will probably have worsened recently to give understated emissions figures to secure lower tax banding. Not that I'm cynical, of course Rolling with laughter Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

My mini claims 74 mpg but best I have seen is 61 - normally average 52 Shocked

My RRS claims 31 mpg and I can average this but normally see 27 Neutral

My stealer did say they had refunded a customer who bought an Evoque and complained he did not get the claimed MPG - they had a waiting list so did not matter to them Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
