Key codes

Does a Freelander normally come with a key code? I bought mine back in June and ive noticed ive not got a key code. My wifes Astra has just needed some work doing and (the car was second hand with no code) the work that was required needed a key code for the computer. Is this going to be the same for my Freelander?

If I do need a code can I get one from the local dealer?

cheers all!

Just had a look at the key code card, it is not for the radio as they were in days of old, it is for the locking wheel nut, if you lose the special socket the dealer can issue a replacement from the information on the key code card.

The reason I ask about codes are that my wife needed some warrenty work doing on her Astra. She had bought the car when it was a year old but did not realise that it had no security/key code. When the car went in recently the main dealer needed a code to access the computer, it cost us 25 quid for a new code.

I bought my Freelander 6 months ago, I checked at the weekend and I cant find any such codes in the book etc. When I bought the car I noticed it had a nail in the tyre. The Dealer (Perrys of Barnsley) could not find the locking wheel nut so sent the car off to their Landrover dealer - Rocar Moors in Huddersfield. The locking wheel nuts were replaced along with a wheel bearing.

I was just wondering if the car is issued with a security/key code or not. I need a clip and a glovebox damper so i'll pop into Rocar moors and see what they say. I dont want to be stuck in a situation where I need a code and havent got one.

The only code needed for a Freelander is the one for the locking wheel nut key.
Providing the Dealer has the vehicle (and I possibly a key fob) then he can access the vehicle systems using his computer

Thanks guys for all the input. So the only code needed is for wheel nut as the computer side doesnt need one nor does the radio. Thanks all Mr. Green
