Good day. I'm writing from Colombia due to problems a friend is having with 3.2 i6. He took this car to a no-name workshop with really bad results. So now he is trying byhimself to fix it (experienced Land Rover mechanic but not in Free). He has already dismantled the engine and found it's a mess. There is a little piece that doesn't go anywhere, lots of silicone in the inside, disconnected sensors, etc.... problem he is having is there is no workshop manual available to be paid with our credits card (Colombia's CC are blocked in great part of the World). The one we could pay shows a timing belt, but this engine have a timing chain. Can anybody help us with this? at least we need the head part of the manual. Thanks in advance. My e-mail is carlosbeldia@yahoo.com |

You might have bought the manual for the Diesel engine. Unfortunately for us (Gas model owners )most LR2 / Freelander's are sold as Diesel models. The Diesel engines use timing belts the i6 Petrol/Gas has a timing chain. The new 2.0L 4 cyclinder (ecoboost) in the 2013 and the Evoque also has timing chains. Since the i6 engine is a Volvo designed unit you might have better luck searching for Volvo S80, XC60 i6 engine info.[/quote] |
