they used to leak inside the cabin, maybe yours needs some sealant round it to keep water from the back of it, a bit of clear silicon should do it At work

mine has the same issue, my older FL2 (56 plate) used to leak around the edge into the rear cabin.

I fixed mine by (as CG said) with clear silicone. However, I used silicone grease rather than the setting type of silicone, it cures the leak without the hassle when you want to change a bulb etc. John

I understood its leaking inside the lamp but sealing around the lamp should keep the water away from the rear of the lamp and cure your problem At work

My nearside rear gets condensation in it, to be honest I've learnt to live with it, it's just a quirk of owning a Land Rover.

When you take the high level brake light out you'll see that it is held in place by a couple of plastic mouldings that hold its gasket against the tailgate. You have to push them in to get the light out. The problem is that they are just a bit too short and don't compress the gasket and stop water getting into the top of the tailgate. Add a couple of pieces of tape to the sides of the hole for the brake light so that the slack is taken up and the gasket slightly compressed. Never (touch wood) had a misted up tailgate brake light since I did this. Stopped it from rattling too.

Bit more info on the rear upper brake lamp as mine has started to leak on my 2010. After replacing the seal with an eBay one and it leaking 10 times worse than before. I fetched it off again to do some of the recommendations in various threads on the subject.

Having thickened the gasket I was unable to get the bloody thing to click back into it's hole. That's when i noticed that it's not the seal.

Over time the light itself has bent away from the body going banana shaped. I think this is probably due to the way it's fixed into the hole. Push in & clipped. Then the summer heat over the years.

So if you replace the old gasket with a similar thickness one it will, more than likely, leak again.

The permeant solution is to either use a thicker more compressible foam, replace with a new unit or use some kind of liquid gasket.

It's not the weather for messing around so I've opted for liquid gasket for the time being. Hope that helps someone.
