United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Narvik Black

Bought mine 4 days ago, 34000miles

Just gone back into Landrover, because of slipping clutch.

Been diagonesd as clutch javascript:emoticon('Censored'). Give them there due there was no complaint they wanted to sort it out ASAP.

Goes in next week to change clutch, also looking at handbrake as always seems to need another click to hold
on hills

Other than that Its Great!! Great Car!

30,000 miles: Second service at Roger Young in Saltash. No problems.
40,000 miles: Chip on windscreen repaired.

That's it.

Service from both the Kendal dealer and Roger Young has been virtually faultless.

Here's to the next 2 years being as good as the first.

Update 1:

16 months and 53,000 miles old and since the above:

45,000 miles: Third service at Roger Young in Saltash. No problems.
50,000 miles: New set of Continental tyres.

Problems to report: Zero.
Oil consumption: Negligable.

Yawn

May as well sing my praises of the Freelander to combat the 'load of junk' comments of late, although I could quite easily be on the other side of the fence as it's all pot luck.
But for me, long may it continue Very Happy

MY11 SD4
18 months old and 27,000 miles later:

5,000 miles investigation into a 'sonic boom' as I passed through 2000 rpm, changed exhaust system but still there to a lesser degree, now termed as characteristic of the car. Laughing
15,000 miles, service no problems.
27,000 miles, still no problems and uses no oil between services. Thumbs Up

England

Just over the two year mark now on 30k
Problems,
Diff Pinion Bearing at 21k
Battery at 22k
Two new Continentals fitted on the rear at 24k, still 3mm remaining on the fronts but will take them off in a month or so and fit the Winter Set and then fit another new pair on he front in the Spring.
Nothing else, still a great car and nothing else on the market comes close.

Finally solved the Detachable Towbar problem with the Thule/Brink bar Whistle
This one has now covered three times the distance as the last three Brink Bars covered.

2011 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Lago Grey

Was 2 years old on 7 October and now covered 39,000 miles.

To date:-

- "knocking" noise at bottom of front doors fixed ( well reported ussue);

- EGR valve changed in an attempt to fix "coughing" on acceleration;

- door seal fitted to rear passenger door;

-puncture required new tyre at 13,000 miles;

- 15,000 mile service;

- 30,000 mile service;

- software update to try and resolve recurrence of "cough". ( Fingers crossed it seems to have fixed this for now.)

- have ordered new tyres as now getting below 3mm and want them changed before winter weather.

Current issues:-

- one alloy ( only one) is showing signs of blistering and I shall be looking for a replacement under warranty;

- seat bolster on driver's seat showing wear on the cloth. Shall be looking to dealer for a solution. Anyone else seeing this wear--right on the stitching?

- various squeks and rattles from doors but I doubt if that fixable.

Really enjoy the car but not convinced I will have another one. I was spoiled on Audi and BMW before LR and I miss the built in quality of those makes.

UPDATE:

17 1/2 months old and 57,200 miles and it's just had a puncture from one HUGE nail!

That's it.

It's turning out to be about the most reliable car I've ever owned Thumbs Up

I just need to book it in for it's 60,000 mile service (for about this time in January) and it looks like I'll have absolutely nothing to report to them yet again.

Re: 12 Months and 40,000 miles. What's gone wrong?

Owned td4 s now for 4 months. Were the 3rd owners. Has 65k on the clock from new. Just over 5 years old now with fsh.
Checked through history. Had 2 sets of pads & discs from new. 2 sets of tyres (conti's). Repair to rear handbrake shoe's. Yearly servicing. Losing air from two of the 16" alloy rims, had them re-sealed twice with new valves. Still losing around 5psi every two weeks. Will prob have to put a couple of tubes in.

Other than that, nothing else Thumbs Up Landy has now gone.

I did have a company car a few years back and I covered almost 70,000 in 9 months ( I just drove all day) but the car back then was fault less, front pads and a set of 4 tires all at the 50,000 service. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Coowee! I have a problem.

Engine management light came on (18 months / 59,500 miles). Really nice guy arrived from Land Rover assist, in a very tasteful 62 plate Disco and plugged his laptop in. Turns out it was a glitch in my software reporting a non existent DPF fault. new software downloaded and on my way 1 hour after reporting the fault.

But....

1/2 a mile later, "engine power restricted" message came up. It wasn't kidding me! 50 flat out on the flat, reminded me of my old 405 1.9 diesel!

Phoned the dealer, they can't look at it for me for a week, but they took it in straight away and lent me a near new FL2, for as long as it takes to get it fixed. Can't say fairer than that.

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Firenze Red

Just 'chucked' in my 2010 XS for the 2013. Not a single mechanical or performance problem over its 53k miles, other than an irritating and intermittent rattle from the front of the car. It moved from the front foot well to the dash, across to the centre console then up to the rear view mirror and then in to the roof lining. There it stayed for the past two years. I only ever came close to solving by adjusting my rear view mirror whilst it was at its worst and it stopped immediately. Days past before it re-immerged. Then I found that applying pressure to the roof lining next to the interior light would stop it. Then I would drive on to smoother tarmac and it left the car for a week or so longer. It was never solved by the dealer and now the car has moved on within the trade. Bye FL. Good luck new driver.
The new baby is a 'peach'. Silent as a DJ's groupie! ... they used to say! Firenze Red XS TD4 01/2013 . Averaging 1800 miles per month. My 5th Freelander in 11 years. Devotee?
