i thought it was supposed to

have they enabled the towing electrics, the cars rear fog lights should not light up if the trailer/caravan is hitched

if they do, then the car doesn't know its towing and might be the cause Idea Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

My 2012MY is exactly the same, eco does not cut out when caravan attached- fitted with LR electrics and correctly coded by dealer at delivery- parking sensors and rear fogs when caravan attached, I assume they have changed the setup as the manual does state that eco should be disabled when trailer attached.

Has the caravan got LED lights? If so the current draw is too low for the computer to tell when it is connected and it continues as normal - at least that is how my trailer with LED lights behaves. The solution is to install ballast resistors to increase the current draw.

mine is the same, dealer has looked into it and thinks it may have something to do with 13 pin electrics as opposed to 7, parking sensors and rear fog lamps are deactivated as they should be so learning to live with with stop/start Rolling Eyes

If you have a towbar fitted the ECU upgrade detects when a trailer is connected and fog lights, on the car, are disabled as is the Stop/Start function. Also the mapping of the engine is changed.
If I remember correctly, think it is the handbook, not entirely sure, but have read it somewhere.

I only have a tow bar for a bike rack and although the fog lights and reversing sensors are correctly disabled when the light bar is connected I've never noticed any change in engine response that you'd expect if the engine map had been changed for towing.

Many thanks to all who have replied. I have checked the car fog lights when plugged in and they are disabled, also the rear sensors. The caravan does not have LED lights so have discounted that idea. Page 62 of the owners handbook states "The stop/start system is disabled when a trailer electrical connection is made" This worked fine on my previous Freelander2. I will get my Dealer to check with Land Rover-Watch this space!! If things don't change they will remain the same!

Maybe Liam@Landrover could offer an explanation, might be worth asking?
