Looks pretty impressive to me, I didn't think the Freelander was up to that sort of stuff. Might have a go in the wife's FL2 at one of the local RTV events!

Off topic for a moment: could you tell me where you got the nifty little roof rack from? It looks like it bolts to the four exposed fixings at the back rather than needing the roof bars (which stay on permanently because the front fitting are drilled through the trim) and I assume it can be taken on and off quite easily?

Hi Jeff,

The roof rack was custom made as I did not find one to buy. It was about 200 EUR, materials and labor included. You are right, it fits on the exposed fittings and this is one of the reasons I made it only half of the vehicle long - I did not want to make any new drillings. It can be taken off in less than 10 minutes. More recently I put some lights on it - 2 spot projectors in front and 2 flood ones in the back.

I really only need a roof rack a couple of times a year when we're camping: the dog occupies the boot and all our gear goes on the folded down back seats and its a bit of a squeeze!

I may be able to get it fabricated locally. Do you have any rough sketch dimensions?
Or could your fabricator make another one and ship it over to UK? Any idea on total cost shipped to UK?
