Wasted weekend

Well been on lookout for a FL2 this week hoping to drive 1 or 2 this weekend but nothing turned up Sad
I was offered a 2008 - 08plate with 78k for £10400 by a private seller but it'll have no warranty - is this asking for trouble at this mileage?
The seller says it's got FSH up to 69k at main dealers si it'll be due another service in a few thousand miles (i only do <100 miles a week so this isn't a problem), it's got MOT till march and 3 months tax.
It's a grey (best colour) GS with a few extras and sounds great - what do you think?

Has anyone bought an aftermarket warranty (warrantydirect/ warrantywise/ etc) and had any problems on claims?

Hi
I think that car would book at around 12K in good condition privately, and 10k in poor, so on the face of it it sounds a good price.
I would ask the seller to get it serviced, and at the same time renew the MOT so you should hopefully get a year of hassle free motoring. The other thing worth considering is asking the AA or RAC to do an inspection. It will cost you maybe £50, but money well spent if you ask me.
Sorry, can't help you with your warranty question, mine still under LR's'

Good luck Thumbs Up _________________

I did ask about a fresh MOT and service but the seller wont spend any more on it as he wants to save money

Had a look at the whatcar site and got some valuations but not sure if these are optomistic values?
Dealer - £9900
P/X - £7890
Trade - £7385

seem a bit low to me looking at cars for sale - don't want to pay £10400 though and when i get bored in a few months end up taking £7k for it Shocked

Those prices sound cheap to me, have a look at Parkers car valuations - I think they will say about 13 for a dealer but they are just guides. Pistonheads is another useful resource to see whats about and compare with the one you are looking at.
If he won't budge on the service, personally I would insist on the MOT, but that's just me.
Good luck _________________

Put the reg number into we buy any car, it will usually give you an idea of a trade value and you can do the rest from there, you have seen its condition.
As Aero said, get an MOT, if he refuses I would walk away.

You can pick them up on the bay for £50 or more, but will need programming which the dealer will charge half hours labour or get one from the dealer but will cost you over a £120 or more. What ever happens under no circumstances buy a used Fob they cannot be reprogrammed lots on eBay but are useless.
