Anyone used Cooper tyres? Just wondered how good the tread wear was. From what I have read, they all generally seem to be good tyres, well priced, but I cannot find any info on the wear rate.

I put a set of 17" Cooper Discoverer ATR tyres on our D3 last year. Very pleased with them so far; good grip, quiet and they are wearing well. Another D3 driver over on disco3 forum reported excellent wear long term for his - I recall 30/40k.

RonP on Disco3 uses them, I believe uses a cooper AT tyre , might be worth asking him, Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I'm using the Cooper Discoverer S/T in 245/70/R17

They are quite loud on road but perform extremely well off-road.

245 ? doesnt that throw everything out ie speedo When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

Speedo is still accurate, not a huge difference in the rolling diameter with the bigger tyre.

The car handles exactly the same as before, although there is a very noticeable increase in noise because of the aggressive tread pattern.

Also it gives you up to 25 mm increased ground clearance so if you go off-road often then I would highly recommend them.

The Discoverer S/T is known for wearing very slow and can last over 80,000 km's, not sure on the new pattern though...

In this country I believe speedometers are legally calibrated to err on the fast side (if it reads like 70mph then it's actually about 68mph) otherwise, if the other way around we could all blame our speedometers if stopped for speeding.

Your tyres translate to an increase in rolling circumference of 117mm over LR standard tyre sizes, with your speedometer reading the other way at reading 70mph and actual 73.5mph.

Of course the online calculator may be wrong

My neighbour has Coopers on his D3. Not sure how old they are as he bought it recently. Strangely, I can't see a Speed Indicator letter on them

I had Cooper Discoverer AT3's (235/65R17) fitted a couple of weeks ago. No real increase in road noise or fuel consumption. Only driven about 500 miles so can’t comment on tread wear.

We have has quite a lot of rain in the last two weeks and thay have been great with that, including some minor floods, so I am looking forward to trying them out in the mud and snow. Hopefully we have a proper winter this year not like last year!!

Having found this old thread from a search, I thought it better too keep this going that start all over again.

I am looking for something more all terrain this time and having been to my local fitter where I enquired about the General AT as having run General tyres for a while I am happy with their performance.

He suggested the Cooper AT3, which at £435 all in for 235x65x17 seems a good deal compared to the General AT at £500 all in.


Anyone here use the Cooper AT3 on their FL2?
