Well I have not driven a TD4 auto but I thought 1st gear in the manual version was terrible but it turns out that torque has been limited in 1st in the manual to save the clutch from exploding (slight exaggeration)

Maximum Torque is 420Nm at 1750 rpm in both TD4 and SD4 and in the TD4 it is the same in both manual and auto versions.

23 around town, you've made my day, only Nick gets that sort of mpg in a freely, don't feel so bad as I get that from the D4, your 36 37 on a run sounds about right, 40 isn't impossible, you need to caress the accelerator to get decent mpg around town. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

That's about right for town driving avg 10k per year and mainly town driving and the last 3 years have been 23/24mpg for the year and that takes into account my longer trips at 27mpg motorway chasing BMW in the fast lane or 32mpg with the wife and kids in the car

Having driven a few TD4 and SD4's, the best I have driven was an SD4 Sport. The entire configuration from the tyres, suspension and engine gave it a far better overall feel and sound than even my TD4 HSE.

I guess Arsenal Mike that the mileage done by your wife is pretty low so why worry - of greater concern would be the DPF getting choked up - ensure she gives it a good run on a regular basis. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

The 1000 mile health check is just a FOC visual check by the dealer to make sure nothing is loose and nothing is leaking. My wife's XS had it done and took all of 20 minutes! Consequently I never bothered to take my one in as (like most of us on here) I keep a pretty sharp eye on the FL's 'health'. |
