Dont know if anyone has come accross this
My wife says when shes in 5th and 6th the freelander feels like it wants to be in a lower gear, she hardly ever has the car in 6th, anyone ever come accross this.

Use 5th and 6th all the time in mine. Usually go into 6th at about 50 mph to stop the eco light coming on.
Not noticed it labouring in 5th or 6th unless I change up way too early but it will still slowly accelerate and stop labouring when I reach a more appropriate speed for the gear.

not in ours, she cant do that, basically only time 6th can be used is on the motorway, dont remember this in our last frelander 2 Regards

certainly 6th gear seems pretty high and not ideal for town driving.

I tend to use 4th for going around the town as it gives you the flexibility required at 25-30mph.

Had a play with mine again this morning and it was quite happy doing 40mph in 6th gear and slowly accelerated up to 50 without any issues.
Agree that in Town 3rd or 4th is probably the most appropriate gear for a comfortable 30mph.

never use 5th or 6th unless i am on the motor way  rainy-city

I normally change into 6th between 45 and 50 mph on level roads. When I go into a 40mph limit I find 5th is fine, down into a 30 limit I go down to 4th. Might as well get into the highest gear possible to get the best mpg.
