Tell you what I have a 2008 HSE on the driveway.
Despite 75k (some very) hard miles totally creak free. Older less fuel efficient auto box is super smooth.

I'll do you a swap for your low mileage noisey, jerky, fuel efficient new wreck.

Only joking - no ones getting their mits on my lovely Clementine. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Same here, our 09 HSE Auto is near silent and smooth as silk. LR are working flat out to churn cars out so the same amount of care isn't being put in. They're also owned by an TATA now, and all the changes they've implemented post Ford are taking effect. You didn't honestly expect an Indian business to produce the same quality as the might of Detroit? Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

That is laughable and I actaully laughed to myself as I typed it...but compared to TATA?

Interesting little experiment for you. Close the door on a Range Rover, and then close a D3/4/RRS door. The Discovery/RRS is a much better quality. Ford came up with the D3/RRS, BMW the Range Rover. The TDV6 (Ford) was, miles better than the TD6 BMW lump in the RR, TD4 in the FL2 (Ford) better than the TD4 in the FL1 (BMW).

We owned all these through work (plant hire) and the D3/FL2 (pre facelift) are our firm favourites Thumbs Up Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Just got mine back from being in for the flatspot and noise from the dash. They updated the gearbox software and it seems to have cured the flatspot, couldn't find any noise from the dash so I went out with the technician and I couldn't replicate the noise so I cannot criticize them for not finding it, a couple of days later on the motorway I hit a sharp bump and there it was again a loud crack from the nearside dashboard. I have decided that after 5 attempts of finding it I will have to learn to live with it, I'll have to think of it as a feature rather than a fault.
