Auto / Manual Air Con Pollen Filters

Anyone know the physical difference between the cabin pollen filter for the manual air con and the auto air con systems?

Is it possible to fit a manual type filter in an auto air con and vice versa?

Some parts suppliers on the internet don’t seem differentiate between the two types.

I had a problem with mine - LR computer says it was a manual system but it is the auto system, the storeman got both out and the manual filter was about 5mm smaller and was just a paper filter, the one for the auto system was a denser material with carbon or something like in it as its a pollen filter.
The manual filter will fit in the auto just a little bit looser (or easyer to fit).

Richard,

Thanks for that. I asked the dealer for a auto Air Con filter and he sent me P/No. LR019192 when I think it should be LR019589 for my GS (I may be wrong). Reading your note about being smaller, it did seem to fit easier.

Not sure about the numbers but if your build date is around april LR's computer is often wrong both of mine were built around april and had errors on there system, the FL1 showed the wrong fuel system (filter and pumps) and the FL2 its the air con type (so far!).
So if they used your Reg No. or VIN they may have given you the wrong filter, even after showing the storeman that I had an auto system I had to insist on the auto pollen filter.

As far as I know, there are two filters, a polen / dust filter (white), and an active carbon filter that filters particles and smells (works very well)

I upgraded my standard filter (57plate GS) to the carbon one, price diff was only a few pounds so made sense to go for it, stops all the nasty farm smells!

Sounds like LR have had problems over the years with some part applicability. I had the same problem as Richard mentioned with my 2002 FL1 TD4. The LR system said I had the later fuel system but I actually had the earlier version (Made things confusing when I ordered a service kit for the first time).
I notice some filter kits for the FL2 include both types of pollen filter.
