United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Santorini Black
A step closer to a purchase...

Went to view an 08 plate rimini red XS today. Liked everything about it.... The only thing that I noticed that was an issue were the seals on all the wheelarches, between the wheel arch lining and the body panels. They were loose, coming away and perished. Dealer has offered to replace but I just wondered if this is a common issue? Not something I've seen/heard of before.

As others have said, a common fault. If the dealer sorts it out I wouldn't worry about it.
I bought a rimini FL2 in July. Wanted something different as had silver or grey cars for far too long.
Rimini looks fantastic when clean, but it shows every mark and speck when it gets dirty. If you are intimate with your hose and bucket I wouldn't hesitate to go for a rimini, especially with privacy glass Thumbs Up _________________

Can echo the comments about Rimini Red with privacy glass, been there and done it. Lovely colour and abit different from the usual black and grey herd. Shame they dropped it and replaced it with Firenza red - a bit too pinky for my liking. Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black
Gone - 2014 BMW X3 M Sport Space Grey, faultless!

I'm still thoroughly in two minds about what to do. Do I swap the low cost reliable fun of my fiesta zetec-S for another Land Rover that will bleed me dry? Maybe. It's got leather seats. :/

Dont take too long, as the weather gets worse, (is that possible Confused ) then prices for used Freelander 2's will go up, first sign of frost or snow and you will be paying a premium. Thumbs Up

Low cost & reliable the Ford may well be, but fun in the winter mmmmm

Yes she will bleed you dry as you nip out to the shops and take the long route - do you go to ASDA 2 miles away, or 15 miles away ? you know how it is, would be wrong not to let the engine and transmission warm up properly. This is coming from someone spending well over £100 a week on fuel, and currently contemplating nipping to Paris via the tunnel for some cheap wine and cigs (from Manchester), just because it sounds like a nice drive. Very Happy

You will notice that it is a completely different car to the FL1, some bits better some bits worse - we had a manual 2000 diesel and an auto 2006 diesel FL1.
Brakes, engine, interior much better. Gearbox smoother on tarmac, but not as good off road. Reliability different league. Fuel economy for me 3mpg better. Driveline mmmmm, our first FL1 had a complete failure (IRD, propshaft, viscous coupling, and rear diff), the second FL1 no issues, this FL2 no issues, but a few people have not been so lucky. Steering is very different, very light, percise but light.
The million dollar question which would I have, a brand new out of the box 2006 auto FL1, or a brand new 2008 auto FL2?

The FL2, purely because on tarmac it is so much better, and that is where I spend most of my time.

Go on give it a go, you know you will regret it if you don't. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Okay! Let's do this. If I'm not happy, I can always sell it.

Deposit paid! And they'd just dropped the price by £200 which was a nice little bonus.

Check the satnav software is up to date? Has it got a spare wheel?
And if it's a LR dealer remember to ask for a free LR experience dhalf-day.
