Here is some food for thought...We should place the elderly in prisons. They will get a shower a day, video surveillance in case of problems, three meals a day, access to a library, computer, TV, gym, doctors on-site, free medication if needed.
Put criminals in nursing homes. They have cold meals, lights off at 7pm, two showers a week, live in a smaller room and pay rent at £2,000 a month!!! It's pretty sad that we treat prisoners better than the elderly.... MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

very true, my mother was in a nursing home up to her passing away, although I've never been in prison (yet) to be able to comment on prison life.

the priorities are all wrong, but what do you do ??

I have worked in prisons for the past 23 years, and the statement is so true. Prisoners are manageged under a set of Prison Rules. These rules dictate the "minimum" standards of care they should recieve whilst in custody.

How many elderly stuck in homes with poor standards of care have immediate access to a lawyer who can take up their complaints "Very Few". Majority of prisoners would be straight on the phone to their lawyer and within a few days a lawyers letter would arrive on the Governors desk.



I have a large number of prisoners committing crime just to get back in prison because it is proving too difficult to manage their own lives in the community. They need someone to provide everything for them and take away the daily decision making proceses. Most who can actually get accomodation in the community are left to their own devises but have no idea how to manage a home.
