United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Santorini Black

Just finished the job- tutorial really helpful.

Only problem I came up against was the fact that the standard steering wheel on my S model doesn't have the small cut out for the phone buttons on the side of the stereo control panel (right hand side). Wasn't sure what implications it may have had if I were to remove the phone buttons so I ended up just changing the entire steering wheel rather than trying to cut the plastic panel.

Getting the cruise control activated in a couple of days. Black, S, TD4, Manual.

This look just what I'm looking for, but a stupid question. Where do the controls go on the steering wheel, do you need to cut out a hole for the controls ???

Cheers
Phil

Ooops! No idea why this posted twice! Might try doing the wheel and avoid the possible problem with the 'phone buttons. eh tu?

Blinged Freelander , thanks for the excellent tutorial. Put a search in last week and up popped your old thread which was easy peasy to follow. I recently purchased a soft touch wheel from a forum member and was able to exchange it with my old one in no time. Very Happy Thumbs Up Back in the fold after 8 yrs. Sorry about posting to an old thread, but I would like to retrofit cruise control to my 2010 fl2. Do I only need the switch or do I need a control unit too?
Have read the thread above several times but still don't understand fully.
Many thanks, Duncan

Actual steering wheel remote control only. Just follow the guide, dead easy.

Then take it to your local LR Indy who has an Autologic machine. Google search with your location, land rover and Autologic will bring them up. They will enable it in seconds for £25 odd. There are individuals that will do it with a Faultmate, but my experience is they ain't cheap.

That's brilliant! Thank you very much. This is a great forum - I'm not used to such quick replies, especially in an old thread. Thumbs Up

Warning:
I bought a steering wheel with built-in satnav (as well as cruise and audio, which is what I wanted) controls and the connector had 11 pins. Having gone through the (stressful) strip of the steering wheel and airbag, I found my S had an 8-pin connector, as well as the buttons being wider than the horn originals. This meant that not only could I not use the wheel with the buttons but I couldn't even swap the wheel as putting the horn buttons on left an unsightly gap between them and the wheel. So I had to go back to the original (plastic) wheel, much demoralised.
I then got a terrain error (to which my wife said 'I told you it always goes wrong when you try to do these things') which thankfully went away after a bit of driving.

I know this is an old thread but this info is really useful. I'm a little confused as to what is required to retrofit Cruise Control. Some say a cruise module is required, others say just the switches on the wheel. Mine is a 2007 S manual.

Thanks

Hello All, Sorry to comment on an old post but!

FL2 2010

I've retrofitted the Cruise Control module to the steering wheel with no issues but when I go to do the media/phone module it doesn't fit, the phone buttons have nowhere to slot! do I need a new/different shroud?

Ta
