Can I set the Air con default to OFF

Hi
It seems the default climate controm on my FL2 GS is on! and If I switch the Econ button on. to turn it off!!!!!!
Next time I start the car the airconn is on again?
To help save the planet and reduce my fuel bill can this be changed? possible dealer program?

Cheers You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Hi commjet,

you have to push the Eco button twice to turn the aircon off. Next time you start the car the aircon remains off.

I have a Gs and use Econ button - it stays on Econ when I restart car until I change settings Confused

Press Auto then Econ and leave it like that and it should remember setting - at least mine does Thumbs Up

I just leave on auto, did in audi too , surely if its cold out and the car doesn't even want to bring the aircon on there is no saving by selecting econ?

Saving the planet or fuel would be achieved by not running the cabin temp low in summer or driving with aircon off and sweating cobs. ( towing wobbly trailers must be a real co2 producer and should be banned forthwith)

But as I had to pay my £85 co2 offset money I intend to pollute loads so I get value for money Laughing .

Did any of you stick your offset sticker in the back window?

Me saving the planet by chopping down trees! Note the dog looking forward to sleeping in front of the stove as those logs blaze

Try turning econ off (aircon on) on a cold morning and watch your tickover - quite significant.

even with the auto on the car uses the aircon system, it regulates the temperate by either drawing cold or hot air, and the fan speed, to get the car to the temp set.

If you ECON it you can notice that the windows start to mist up in the front and the rear really mist up.

I keep mine on auto unless i press the buttons to direct the heat

I read somewhere you lose about 10miles from a full tank by running the aircon, so its not that bad Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

driving with an open window/sunroof can cause drag and increase fuel consumption too so aircon on,windows shut isn't so bad Just don't try and make it 16 in the car when its 28 outside. No laughing gammba that's about as hot as we get Cool

Its important that the aircon compressor gets regular use to keep the seals moist so If you use econ most of the time, try and remember to give the aircon system a good run once a month otherwise your fuel savings could be lost by having to overhaul and re-gas the system.

I agree with you all but I wish to remember that if you don't want aircon and econ because maybe in the Summer you wish to have the sunroof open, you have to push twice the Econ button and the right light on the same button will come out to indicate the climate control is completely shutt off.

cold air wafting through the vents and the warm summers breeze on my elbow and the THUD THUD THUD of the air because i forgot to drop the rear window down slightly

Hi all just been out and had a play. whatever the setting econ/off turn the engine off remove key, then start up again and the system resets to full auto. with air conn on.

Is this what you are seeing? You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.

It's ok if I try to make the car 22 when its 45-50 outside though isn't it Rolling with laughter

It was only up to 28 here yesterday so pretty cold actually, but today should be good I hope, as I'm off to a bbq.

Like CG I have always left my aircon on auto in the cars I've had even in winter as it avoids the windows misting up, and like npinks I also leave it on when I've got the sunroof or windows open.
