then click on Navigation system to bring up the right page.

The numpties who 'design' UIs have no idea! Voice Guidance on or muted is one of those things which should be right at the top level with an on screen icon. The other is 'cancel guidance' which is another command you often need whilst driving but it is hidden away down the menu tree.

The other thing is that I agree TMC is a total waste of time and money. Never has accurate info - either it doesn't know about genuine jams or notifies yoou of spurious delays.

Overall I think they would have been better getting TomTom to design a removable unit for a dock - or how about an iPhone/iPod option? Freelander 2 SD4 HSE - Ipanema Sand - MD co-pilot - Springer Spaniel in boot - Swift Challenger on the back!

I hardly ever use the Sat Nav; when I do, it is without the voice (I have no idea what it sounds like). I just have the map with the line on it for reference and keeps my eyes ahead on the road. It replaces having to make stops to check tha map, on which I worked out my route before leaving. Yes I was in the scouts..........

England 2012 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Buckingham Blue

Agree about the TMC it seems to pick up delays miles ahead which have cleared by the time you reach them, it also has a liking for motorways so will go the long way round sometimes. Having said that its generaly quite good! Thumbs Up 2012 MY TD4 SX Manual in very rare Buckingham Blue!

What I do like about the Satnav (mine's a Garmin) is the speed reading, which is more accurate and easier to read than the speedo. The speed limit warning is also useful for those places where there are cameras but no signs.

I have the Tom Tom Start 60 built into the cubby hole, so far so good, very good Satelite lock, through the heated screen, very fast at re routing.
It also has TomTom's IQ routes which will take you different routes to the same destination depending on the time of day, this is from historical data, not live but it does work very well.

I have also downloaded a clour scheme which is identical to OS maps making it very easy to see which roads are where, there is also an AtoZ map colour scheme which matches the map books.
The camera warnings are very good although with so many camera locations including potential mobile spots it can get annoying, although you can create a custome menu, by adding a camera off button to the screen you can instantly shut them up, handy on the M1, M25 were every other gantry causes a bleep.

The aerial map view will also right itself so that the map faces direction of travel, my last TomTom wouldn't do this which led to some confusion at times.

Easy to install, easy to update, 2 minutes in car with laptop, I certainly recommend you look at this unit Thumbs Up
