Just picked up a 2008 HSE and I noticed there is no foot rest/ deal pedal cover. Every other car I have owned had a rubber or metal cover. Anyone here installed a cover and if so where did you get it?

I know what you mean it does seem that there should be a cover on it to simply protect the carpet.

I've not seen any kits though......

Being "the best" offroad vehicle you'd think there would be something to protect the carpet from mud, dirt, etc. I have black interior so it is not too bad. We've had record snow fall here recently and I can see salt stains being a problem in the future.

I am sure somebody will bring one out eventually

I think the beige interior is better for concealing mud as mud is brown and blends quite well especially when i get the black mats out and it spills the dirt under the mat.

Having got fed-up of not having anything to protect the carpet where the 'LR omitted' footrest cover should be, I decided to experiment.

I bought a Tesco 'value' rubber mat for the vast sum of £1.47, cut out a paper template of what I wanted to achieve, then cut the mat to the template, and was actually gobsmacked that it worked so well first time - no trimming needed.

It tucks just under the edge of the centre console moulding and traps under the contoured edge of the driver's floor mat. The weight of the rubber and it's flexibility lets it droop to the contour of the footrest, and the console and mat hold it in place. So no glueing/sticking and it can be lifted out if necessary for cleaning or replacement. It totally protects the carpet from my redundant left foot (auto) and is so secure that I now forget that it's there. What's more, the cheapo mat is large enough to yield at least three replacements, should I ever need them See gallery.

Note for LR, it would have been very easy for them to have moulded something similar into their driver's mat design  Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack. Traded for Discovery Sport HSE Auto.

If only LR had done that - still it looks a reasonable mod, although I would prefer a smoother (not all the little squars) rubber finish I will have a look round for some rubber to do the job on my manuel  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Hi Matei,
I knicked Scotster's 'splash screen' image, which was already the right size/shape (but was TomTom logo), downloaded the LR logo off of their site and pasted it over the TomTom image. Saved as jpeg. When the device is docked it appears as a drive on the PC and you just open it's JPEG folder, then drag the new image into the Garmin folder.

When you've powered up the Garmin, go into it's Pictures folder and select the image. It asks whether you want to display the image at power-up. Say YES.

Unfortunately, I don't have the Garmin anymore. I sent it back as it refused to download their Safety Camera subscription. I'm debating whether to try again with the same model, as I really liked it, or go for the TT Go 720, which has a similar spec/price. Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack.
