Has any one any experience of this, or similar item they can recommend?

Deffo not for dogs! They can also get at the interior trim if so desired.
I assume you need it for dogs?
If not, It might suit your needs. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

I don't have dogs. but with the daily grind of bags in and out of the boot I thought a sensible level of protection would save me some hassle in the long run.

Havimng seen the price of the scuff-plate I thought this with a flap would cover more area and leave me with money to fuel the thing.
