I've had a letter from LR today inviting me to extend my warranty which expires at the end of September. There are two options: Approved Extended Warranty at £640 for vehicles under 5 years and 75k miles or the Select Extended Warranty at £505 for vehicles under 10 years and 100k miles. There is no limit on claim liability (up to the price paid for the car) on the Approved and a £3k individual claim liability and aggregate claims up to the price paid for the car under the Select Warranty. Exclusions on both warranties include wear & tear, tyres, batteries, glass, exhaust etc - basically normal service items. Most other things appear to be covered against mechanical or electrical failure. The vehicle has to have been serviced in accordance with LR's service schedule. So, is it worth it? Has anyone extended their warranty and had to claim under it? Was the claim dealt with quickly and fairly? Any experiences you feel you can share would be of interest. 2010 HSE TD4 auto, Biscay Blue, Almond Leather, facelift front and rear, detachable towbar, front & rear mudflaps, bib spoilers, clear high level brake light, smooth rear wiper, colour coded door handles. IIRC it has been said on here that the extended warranty does not cover the radio and sat nav, don't know if it's true or not but it has been said more than once |

As far as I can see from the blurb they have sent, the sat nav and radio are not covered. It's something I will check up with the dealer but I doubt these will be covered. Has anyone actually bought the extended warranty AND claimed on it? 2010 HSE TD4 auto, Biscay Blue, Almond Leather, facelift front and rear, detachable towbar, front & rear mudflaps, bib spoilers, clear high level brake light, smooth rear wiper, colour coded door handles. I know of someone who had problems with the handbrake during the extended warranty period, the adjusters had seized, they had the handbrake cables, adjusters and shoes replaced under warranty, they also advised home the the pads needed doing and they only charged him for the pads and no labour. |

I have Select warranty, currently in my second year £460 payable in ten instalments. Have had horn, steering pump (not sure if they did the rack as well) and rear wiper motor done. No quibbles, although I did have to point out that the horn was a warranty item. Car washed and valeted as well. Given the cost of major items on this car, plus the fact that it is a Land Rover (!) it seems like a good buy to me. |

You can get more or less the same from LR and that will cover LR Assist also and you won't get the trouble of LR trying to get out of it whereas Warranty Direct will squirm. |

I should have said that th sum I quoted is without LR Assist., and the LR scheme has no annual mileage limit-just a total of 100k miles |

I'm now in my second year of extended warranty. First year I used it and the MOT insurance thats built in. Like the other post I needed new rear discs and handbrake drums, the handbrake adjustment was seased. I had to pay for the pads but everything else was covered. I believe its worth it. Interesting implication that brake discs are covered by warranty. My rear discs were replaced at the last service and no mention was made of warranty - I assumed they were a "normal wear and tear" item. Were they covered in this case simply because the handbrake had seized? Some clarification would be useful and maybe of use to other forum members in due course! |

I think it was all 'consequential' due to handbrake failure. It might also have been more covered by the MOT insurance aspect of the warranty rather than the normal warranty side of things.
