Traffic film remover

Is traffic film remover any good? Ive heard it can strip wax off the car? I was thinking of using it as I get a lot of bird poo and bugs on my car.

Seen some today 5 litres for 6 quid, dilute it and apply with a pump spray. Anyone any advice on the stuff?

Cheers all!

It should be fine, hgvs all of the country get blasted with the stuff on a regular basis, I've used it on tractors with good results. I seem to remember washing cars with it too without any drawbacks, except that you still need a hand wash after

E.Yorks will buy some of this now, after seeing the sales force

I won't use the stuff, it fades the plastics in time, removes any wax on the paintwork, takes the shine off the paint.

Bird poos excellent for removing the wax and stripping off the shine.
Its got lime in it and if left on the paintwork for more than a couple of days the paint will be ruined as it eats into the surface, no amount of polishing will then remove it without trace, a respray is the only option.
Bird poo needs removing daily, especially seagull type that resembles concrete with granite chips in.

Was thinking of using traffic film remover, then washing with turtle wax. Ive heard people say tfr brings off the wax but then other people have said (on other forums) that shampoo with wax puts the wax straight back on the paint.

Thanks all for your help.

Steve

Saw a white vehicle with red sign writing being washed once with TFR, it looked pink as the TFR was etching in to the sign writing, with six months of TFR the red was all faded, rough to touch, each to there own but not for me. We don't even use TFR on the vehicles at work, and have no trouble with bugs sticking on the front, a coat of a quality polish once a month, then pressure wash with water only at the end of each day before the bugs have had time to set, works for us.

Think i'll stick away from tfr. My freelander is white. Was just looking for a good prewash. Think i'l stick with soap and water.

I dont have a lance, the cost of one put me off the foams. That was the reason i looked art tfr's. But have been getting mixed reviews really. I like to wash my own cars so was looking at stuff that would help with cleaning etc.

At work the hygiene crew use TFR so I tried some in a pump spray on the car, all it did for me was leave 'running streaks' down the paintwork. No lasting damage but I had to put a lot of effort into the 'ordinary wash' which followed to remove the streaks.
Never used it again on the car but it works wonders on the paving stones and garage door, brilliant stuff for removing the green stains on concrete Thumbs Up

We make ( literaly) thousands of tonnes of TFR at our Middlesbrough production facility, bear in mind a couple of things, one) the hardest things to clean on Large Goods Vehicles are the curtains not the paintwork, 2) loads of big fleets have their vehicles "wrapped" rather then painted then they can sell on a white truck after 7 years. so would I use TFR on my car or bikes - no way. ps when you get the plastics getting a white bloom it is because the TFR concentrate is used at too high a dilution .

Leave it for getting crap of trucks that do 150,000 miles a year. at the end of the day a decent shampoo will be kinder for your paintwork, although i am loath to was a car more than once every 4 months I have invested in a foam gun and echo the recommendations above. Buy a decent shampoo and don't be fooled by all the " bubble gum" and " cherry" nonsense, loads of these are our bog standard car formulas watered down, nice smell added and then repacked by " specialists". me I buy Autoglym ! 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

The valeters at my main dealers left TFR on too long and i have stains left on the grill like rain drops all over it. They have to replace the whole bumper as it is a whole assembly. Perhaps it was too strong? I'm glad I don't have to pay for it!

This works well- especially in present weather. spray on with a garden spray, leave for 5 mins + then hose off. Then either leave it as it will have cleaned all the heavy grime etc off or then just your normal wash routine. Chap I know on Detailers site uses this now instead of a Snow lance. You can get it in 500ml size just 'Google' Pro citrus pre wash

Stevie5tapes-

I have used Fenwick caravan cleaner, followed by their bobby dazzler finisher, with good results - not just on the caravan but on my FL2 as well.

I have found that their claims on their website to be correct.
