Auto gearbox recall....

Hi guys,

The latest edition of LRO magazine answers a question about whether auto or manual is best but goes on to say that there was a recall to recalibrate the shift patterns on the auto box. It says if this hasn't been done the 'box may only last around 50k miles as opposed to the 100k+ it should last for. Unfortunately the article doesn't say when the recall was made and which model years may be affected. It does say this can be checked through the LR themselves but I was wondering if any member of the forum was aware of this recall and can shed more light on it.

Thanks. 2010 HSE TD4 auto, Biscay Blue, Almond Leather, facelift front and rear, detachable towbar, front & rear mudflaps, bib spoilers, clear high level brake light, smooth rear wiper, colour coded door handles.

i would suggest to contact your dealer to ask if there are any more auto-box updates that super-seed Q106.
Mine had the Q106 update done about a year ago. I wouldn't also take what one dealer says as gospel either ! it may mean checking with a few dealers !
Too many dealers say the first thing that comes into their head and are not aware of certain updates or issues !

As an example I complained for 3 years ( at least three times per year as well ) about my knocking tow-bar, it was only through the help of this forum and Mcphearson strut that I then had evidence and approached them yet again for them to investigate and received a new bar under warranty ! as it was a known issue with a modified towbar !

From my other thread.... http://www.freel2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=150522#150522

Have just gone and bought my first ever copy of LRO !

I now also know wtf you nutters are rattling on about with regards the Blue cloth !!

For my tuppence I think it is a mitt to use on the side of the road when your Auto box dies - put your had or fist in, and the holes are perfect to extend a thumb, so you can try to thumb a lift !!!
Two Holes means it is suitable for the continent too where they drive on the wrong side of the road !

Thumbs Up

Will have a read over lunch.
