Hey Guys,

I'm looking into a using an LCD display and an Arduino board to provide an Oil Pressure (and maybe temperature) readout. Does anyone know where the oil pressure switch is located on the TD4?

It's somehow just between the oil filter (above it), the oil cooler (below it) and behind the back of the alternator.

Might be better reading the pressure via the OBDII interface similar to what the Scangauge does (http://www.amazon.co.uk/ScanGauge-II-Compu...B000AAMY86)

Get an Arduino with CAN interface on and you'll be well away. I've used this one https://www.olimex.com/dev/olimexino-stm32.html and it's pretty good

You'll probably need to roll your own ISO14229 protocol stack The CAN method also has the advantage that you'll be able to read other stuff too (speed, RPM, coolant temp, battery voltage etc...) so you can have a multi purpose device.

Free development tools are available here http://www.coocox.org/ and here http://leaflabs.com/docs/ide.html The first one is good if you want to do bare metal development the second is better if you're used to the Arduino IDE.

From what I've researched on FL2, you won't find the oil pressure through the standard CAN messages...
Here's below the list of what's available:

Those are the diagnostic message PIDs/LIDs. Might be available in the normal cyclic messages perhaps?

I've spied only the low speed CAN bus.
There I didn't find something like oil pressure and it's normal as it's a convenience oriented bus...

Maybe you can spy the high speed CAN bus (the powertrain bus) and tell us which IDs holds which information?

Hi,

there is no oil pressure sensor on FL2.There is only oil pressure switch which operates as on/off so you cannot find oil pressure reading in live data stream
