did you saw the handle off the riv-nut tool?

I might find that funny and so might others but for a bloke who has just genuinely explained where his username came from, I suspect that hurts. It would if it were me.

I have/had nothing against the bloke it was simply a joke to be friendly after his non too friendly welcome to the forum.

And if youve done the rivnuts you will understand that chopping the handle off wouldnt be silly, its an awkward job, so kind of an in joke At work

Need helps here. Brought a set from this guy but my workshop guy told me that the bracket is wrong. Can anyone share With me how to mount the side step? The set comes with a L shape black bracket & a straight joint.

This is the set I have purchase

1) side steps

2) mounting brackets

My workshop claims that the black bracket does not fit into the mounting of the car. Anyone purchase from eBay got installation issue?

Scotland 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

Hello, first post and it's a 'please help!' sorry about that! Very Happy

I'm looking to fit side steps as well, local garage want 3 hours labour (£50 p/h) but frankly the only bit I'm really concerned about is this rivnut thingy. Supposing making my own isn't an option as anyone come up with a workaround?

Cheers!! HSE, td4 - Stornoway Grey - full alpaca interior - 2011 front facelift - privacy glass.
Just added side steps, replaced the yellow side lights & body coloured handle and wing mirror covers. Now for the spoiler!

Rivnuts were quite simple even without the proper Rivnut Setter. Got to agree with CG on the "Tricky Little Suckers" probably the most time consuming part, also with vectis on the time one and half hours for the first then 30 mins for the second. Fitted a lot easier than I was led to believe glad I didn't pay for it to be done.

Tell us about how the rivnuts proved to be simple please!! Embarassed HSE, td4 - Stornoway Grey - full alpaca interior - 2011 front facelift - privacy glass.

They are simple enough, just needs a bit of spannering, worst part is crawling under the car. Confused the rivnets alone dont hold the brackets on,they just hold things firm, there are existing threaded holes already on the car for the main mounting bolts At work

Sorry to labour the point but what do you mean? Can you describe what you did?
