Mac OSX Mountain Lion

When I bought my MacBook Pro last year, it had OSX Snow Leopard installed. I decided against downloading OSX Lion when it came out due to many negative reviews. OSX Mountain Lion has received much praise from users so I downloaded it today.

I presume it is Apple's answer to Windows 8. It is very impressive with some intriguing 'swipe' features but I have yet to find out all of it's additional features.

£13.99 on App Store. Any of you other Mac users downloaded this? LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I have but not quite sure what the improvements are! I'm sure there are, just need to play around and find them.

I loaded in Lion recently and have no issues with it. I always like to wait for things to settle down before installing software/OS.
I know that a certain software program I use won't work with it just yet due to the new Gatekeeper software.

A list of new features are here:

I downloaded Lion a year ago and Mountain Lion this week. No problems with either on my 2009 Macbook Pro.

Good for me - 2011 MBA which will now sync when in sleep mode
Also mirroring the screen over AirPlay to the AppleTV means cordless big screen action

I have Lion running at the moment (and am happy with it) but I'm tempted to buy Mountain Lion as i've just done a bit of housekeeping. As I have a late 2008 MacBook Pro which still looks and works superbly well, I'm a bit gutted that the mirroring function won't mirror with my apple t.v. (not that i think I'd need it to).

For £14 though it truly is tempting to keep up to date with the latest developments in the OS but then again maybe this is a reason to buy a new MBP... hmmm

I've never really used Safari, used to be a Firefox man but now very much in the Chrome arena.
Having upgraded my iMac to Mountain Lion there's very few updates I've really noticed that make a huge difference. 2008 FL2 TD4 XS Zermatt Silver, Manual

Well I bit the bullet and bought it. It took just over an hour to install with no problems except....

Several of my programs wouldnt work under the new OS inc. Parallels and Little Snitch. Not a major issue as I'll install it on my wifes MBP as she only runs Office and Safari.

So a word of caution - check your software's compatibility before installing.

Not a major concern as I simply connected to my Time Capsule and installed a complete backup of my system (Lion) from this morning (in under 2 hours) - back to normal now Smile

I'll install it again when my software is compatible or a newer version is released.

Parallels has now been updated and version 7.0.15104 works with Mountain Lion
Little Snitch website says it is compatible with Mountain Lion

Well my version didn't Sad and my Parallels does need updating but that would require a new purchase...not worth it for the gains of Mountain Lion at the moment with my 4 year old MBP Sad

Had mine as a free download, MBP under a month old.
Certainly faster and more stable than Lion, have it on a few of the iMacs at work, basically Lion was the PC vista of the Mac.
Liking notification center, suspect more will become apparent in the autumn with the IOS upgrade and integration with iPods, iPhones, iPads and of course the cloud.
Mirroring on the Apple TV works a treat as well Very Happy 09 FL2 HSE auto Lago Grey

I read somewhere that Front Row has been dropped from OSX Lion onwards. Makes me reluctant to upgrade my iMac as FR is one of my favourite apps. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech
