Just looking for some recommendations..
What sort of ear and eye protection are people using for shooting? (mainly shotguns)

Eye protection I use some cheaper clear lense glasses nothing special

For ear protection I used in ear Ones with the metal valve inside(can't remember the make) but found them annoying after a while, then tried the DIY in ear moulded ones, they were too good, couldn't hear properly between shooting to chat, but comfy

I then bought some peltor Sportac II electronic headphones from a friend

Brother used these in te past, work really well, but don't look the best when wearing them

If you were thinking about something that is more 'fitted' and doesn't interfere with the shouldering then try:

I've not gone down this route yet but i probably will. I currently have the Electronic Peltor Muffs and the Napier Pro 9 which work well but does interfere with the shouldering at times.

I always wear Oakley pro- m frames for eye protection often with clear lenses, plus Oakley are one of the few companies that make shooting specific lens colours for different situations ( like locking onto orange trap targets or filtering against green backgrounds), plus the optical properties of the lenses are great, and they full wrap around to protect from debris. They also have more modern frame styles available with switachble "shooting array lens sets"

for hearing protection I have custom moulded silicon ear plugs around £100 , they are extremely comfortable and do a great job, you can hear conversation but peak decibels of gun fire are cut. you can pay more and get electronic inserts but unless you are hard of hearing to start with the normal ones are fine.

I never, ever, use " ear defenders" as even with the slim shooting specific ones as they will at some time affect your gun mount if you ever shoot from a gun down position ( which I do a lot), plus they limit the sort of hats you can wear in winter  2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Also a user of the Pelotor Sportac's here. Try mounting the gun with a pair on and see - it has never been a problem for me. Do have the Sonic in ear ones for game. Would love a pair of the CENS digital but they are expensive.

I can't get on with eye protection.

Just be aware the effect that some cheaper glasses can have on your vision. Look at an object at a distance and then put the glasses on - it should remain in the same place. If it jumps left, right up or down then don't buy them!

getting my license tomorrow, after waiting 2 1/2 months! so its time to start buying things, i've been doing alot of research but its nice to get the opinions of people who have actually used the things rather than the opinions of people who are trying to sell you them!

2 1/2 months not to bad for a grant - which police force are you under?

Don't think i have worn a specific eye protection! Always got my Oakley sunglasses near by tho!

As for ear plug.....Either chewable yellow ones available at work or if on the range they provide them

I've prolly made the same mistake as most people and bought a 3 gun cabinet! although i think i can squeeze 4 guns in!

Probably...definitely...just like me. 6 gun cabinet and now i'm turning them upside down, back to front to get them to fit

Another school of thought is to buy one good gun ! consistency is the name of the game and buying one, then paying to have it fitted to shoot where you look, will mean you can get used to everything feeling the same and lining up the same, every time you pull the trigger, I'd much rather have one £2000 gun than 4 at £500  2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

You're spot on but what if in the future you added to your shotgun with a 22LR, 17HMR, 204, 223, 243 - You may need a bigger cabinet
