Steering issue

I posted about this some time ago but I want your thoughts again now that I have a 2nd opinion. Basically, when driving on a road no matter how straight and flat, the wheel needs to be turned slightly (but noticeably) to the right in order to keep in a straight line. If I were to bring the wheel dead centre in perfect alignment with the column, the car drifts off (reasonably promptly) towards the kerb.

I had the alignment and balancing checked by my local tyre fitters a few months ago and today I have gone elsewhere for a 2nd opinion. The guy said everything was bang on (including pressures) and he couldn't understand why it was doing it.

Last time I rang LR, they demanded £99 to book it into their wheel alignment centre Rolling Eyes No way am I paying, so before I challenge LR again, do you guys notice this when driving along and do you have any thoughts on what it might be? LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

All my cars do it, UK roads have a camber that causes it as far as I know, even if they look flat, there usually not.

All very scientific believe it or not Laughing

Thanks for the info. I thought it was an issue when I drove my Dad's Audi A4 and didn't notice it. Perhaps it's a 4x4 thing that makes it more noticeable. Camber did occur to me but the way it heads off towards the kerb made me think it might be something else.

Relieved to hear those reassuring opinions Very Happy Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

My old FL2 used to do exactly the same, Mrs Dave's FL2 doesn't do it though, D3 and D4 didn't do it neither does the FFRR.

I've got an FL2 loaner at the moment and that feels like its doing it too Confused ______________________

Mine Does it - it's perfectly normal and yes I think the fl2 is a little bit more sensitive than other cars I have driven...

I noticed it most when driving in France and couldnt work out why my arm was hurting!! It was because I wasnt used to holding left hand down a bit!!! Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints
