our freelander sat nav is the original 2007, if i update what is the best way to do it, do i need to do it by years or just go for a 2012 disc, where is the best place to buy, best deal and what problems can there be Regards

OK, get the 2012 disc. Put in in place (take out the 2007 disc first...) and start up the car. You perhaps want to go for a drive or something because it could take anything from 10-15 minutes to a couple of hours... I am not really sure why.

Anyway, the screen will probably tell you that the system needs to update, which you have to say "yes" to.

Once done, let it sort out itself - the screen may flicker, go off and on, grey out buttons, etc. etc.

Just let it work its course and soon enough you will be able to enjoy your new maps and a bit of new stuff in the settings as well (not much, mind you...)

There are some alternatives on where to buy it, but you could try Navteqs web page... it's quite pricey, and hopefully you don't have to wait for 6 weeks as I had to...

Last years discs, new ones are about, you can pick a set up if you know where to look for £65

Bought the ones above £35 seemed quite a good deal inc post, hopefully they are genuine!! Regards

Do all Volvo RTI discs work ok? There's one, a year old on eBay just now for pennies. Nope not telling!

Failing that there are apparently genuine 2012 discs for about £65 inc P&P. HSE, td4 - Stornoway Grey - full alpaca interior - 2011 front facelift - privacy glass.
Just added side steps, replaced the yellow side lights & body coloured handle and wing mirror covers. Now for the spoiler!

Worked perfect, updated from 07 discs in around 30mins

Following on from the others in this thread. On eBay currently you could buy a "genuine" 3-disc set for 2012-2013 or an apparently equally "genuine" single Europe 2012 disc, far cheaper.

Obvious question really - do you need three discs or will just one do? I don't want to set up an entirely new system, just update the maps on my 2008 one.
