Would it be likely the problem (juddering) be worse at a certain ammount of revs if it was just the fuel filter that needed replacement, ie: noticeably worse at 2100 rpm? |

Is it speed related or rev related

Dave, Definately rev related while under load, ie: no engine power/no judder. Say for example you drive in 4th at 2100rpm it is very hesitant...almost like it's missing. Put your foot down and it lags a little then picks up and goes. Either side of this ammount of revs it doesn't do it, having said that it feels like it's running a little rough/not as smooth as usual generally. If you hold the engine at 2100rpm in neutral it sounds/feels fine. |

Obviously then its there at specific revs and only when the car is moving so that would make me think its clutch or drivetrain related

Same symptoms that mine had last year, dual mass flywheel failure, may need clutch as well. Only juddered in 4th and above, almost shook the dashboard off it was that bad. This is common, loads of posts on here about it. Mind you, mine went at 20k miles so if yours is on 98k then you are doing well! |

Clutch and flywheel done recently mojo.....it's not that sort of judder thankfully, fairly sure it is fuel related, somehow? |

All gears but more noticeable in 4th or 5th on a flat smooth road or when under load going up hill............ |

Not something I normally do so haven't noticed before but if I rev the car in neutral, as I take my foot off the throttle there is a 'whoosh' sort of sound (as soon as the throttle is released)...........would this have something to do with it possibly? |

I too would suspect a stuck open EGR valve. Had this on my TD5, and while I didn't get actual juddering, the performance was way down. Cured when I blanked the EGR (not so easy on a Freely though) |

Much appreciated all.......out of interest where is the EGR situated? is it easy enough to identify etc? Will arrange some cleaner and replacement gasket in readiness to tackle the damn thing but unless it stands out like a sore thumb i've no idea where it lives |
