locking

hi, not been here for ages but still have my 2009 hse as there's nothing on the market i want to change to ( FL3 might change that)
bizarre start to the day, left the house at 6am & the house alarm was beeping a " trouble " alert
no sign of any damage/ attempts to get in/ phone line tampering etc.
started to shuttle my kit to the car & the key fob was useless, none of the buttons worked.
back into the house to pick up the spare key & the same effect, no buttons worked.took the key apart & used the passenger lock to get in,
the alarm went off & i squeezed my not inconsiderable bulk in ( I park way too close to a hedge on the passenger side)
put the key in & the bloody thing started as if nothing was wrong,
it's been fine all day ( i had a security bloke at work keep an eye on it as we were in a " competitive " part of Glasgow today.
got home & the house alarm's cleared the alert & the cars locked & the red lights flashing on dash.
i've got the landrover extended warranty but can't be bothered with a dealer visit unless really necessary as works a bit busy just now.
so thoughts ? i've searched forum & it's not a fob thing & there's no radio interference at the house.
was this just a one off or do i need to switch cars round & use my wee lotus tomorrow. by the way, congrats to forum as a resource, i came here when i got my 1st one in 2006 & it's been a great place to visit.
appreciate similar tales & solutions, cheers G

Is the house alarm a wireless version.

Some modern alarms communicate between the control panel and the outside box and sensors on the radio frequencies.

If it was in an alert state perhaps it was on constant transmit and flooding the area hence blocking your remote.

It sort of makes sense as the remote in the dock uses different comms than when opening doors.

Hope this might help n some small way Very Happy 2002 Honda VFR800

I think you're onto something, I've blocked the car in the drive just in case there's something "afoot"
the house alarm is wireless, it's hardwired into a bt line but there's a backup sim on a mobly thing too.
all the room sensors at the front of the house can be seen by the car at the end of the drive,
the alarm company have run checks & are happy with the current state but are sending out a bloke to service it
as it didn't call through to tell them it'd had a fault.
there's cctv but nothing to report there either.
so i've learned two things, the passenger door emergency lock works if you leave enough room to get into the car &
i need to cut that hedge back or lose a few pounds !
cheers G
