Black Circles (and maths)

Warning! - N00bie alert on Freel2 forum Rolling Eyes - but I have read forum end to end, and this has answered my first 8 questions - so thanks everyone!! Thumbs Up

I've ventured to the Freelander last month and already itching to make the mods. Since I inadvertently removed my plastic door panel whilst off road, I realised it didn't quite have the ground clearance I'd been accustomed to! Whoops.
I would like to raise my machine a little by increasing diameter of the tyres.
I've the skinny 215 75 16 (yes, its an S Embarassed ) and initially thought the 235 70 16 BFG would be ok, but my maths only increases that a few mm in height. Having felt the clearance behind and read that some fit 255 profiles (normally with those racing Phat alloys though), I wonder if anyone has fit the 255 70 16? There doesn't look a whole lot of room to that suspension strut!!

Q -Stick with a 'reasonable' 235/70 16?? I'm not looking to increase to the point I need a wheel arch cut, but want to fill those arches!! Cool
Here's hoping those with 16" rims come out and so we can form a support group. Wink

I wish i had 16 inch wheels. The tyre choice in 17 inch is terrible!

225/75/16 should go on there and Landrover themselves fit them if you request off road tyres.

Hi and welcome to the forum, I'm sure you will find it informative and even humorous sometimes !!

in my opinion changing the tyres would not give you any added ground clearance to make any difference.

but I'm sure some experts will be along any minute to put you on the right track.

Iain

Thanks chaps.
Think you're right re: lack of any height gain. Shame the stud patterns aren't the same as the Disco as would have tried a 235/85 16 on there for fun! Damn you LandRover! Previous Series III, Defender, Discovery 300 and TD5 owner.
