Fitting Instructions for Cargo/Dog Barrier

Since the fitting of a Dog Guard/Cargo Barrier LR002521 is quite a common question of late I thought it might be an idea to place it on the forum instead of emailing it to all who require it. Thumbs Up

Download .Pdf file here

Hope it helps all those who have dogs, cargo or need one to prevent kids climbing in the boot Laughing

According to the fitting instructions(see above) it ought to work OK..... Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....

I especially like page 6 - after all that trouble I think you are going to leave it in place permanently and won't need to fitting instructions to hand!

I just bought a britpart boxed guard - the one that goes at the top. Branded Travall when out of the box so its quite good.

Not sure though how britpart charge £75 but same Travall item is £103........

Can highly recomment and tou can still drop seats and feed through longer items. Still a pain installing and the 'boot' cover won't come out when it is in place.

DR There's always a way forward!

2011 Freelander Td4 GS 150 - Rimini Red - in its place - Better x far x 4!!

mine fits in and is able to be taken out with the guard in place

its a little tight but still possible, its all in how you waggle it and how hard you push and pull Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Biscay Blue

Have just encountered this problem, bought a Freelander 2 without cargo barrier, got the dealer to fit one and when we collected it found we could not remove the load space cover!
The picture on the fitting instructions clearly show that the load space cover is fitted after the cargo barrier, if it goes in it should come out, right? Wrong! We couldn't get it out so I actually took it back to the dealer, after a bit of huffing and puffing and brute force it came out! Whether it will go back in is another thing! Dealer agreed its a bad design but for £300incl fitting it shouldn't be

Is it really as easy to fit the cargo barrier as it appears in the instructions?? It just looks like a couple of bolts/fittings and a little jiggling about.......nothing to cut or drill etc, so looks well within my abilities

The dealer wanted to charge me full list + about £100 for fitting which I thought was a bit steep, so I said not to bother.

Also, does anyone have any experience of using the cargo barrier and the rigid boot liner together. Have aked Duckworths who say they should work but the barrier pushes the liner back a bit from where it should be which can foul the rear door

Thanks Steve

@jenks1950

the cargo barrier is very easy to fit, you only have to unbolt a torx screw and rescrew it in with the bracket, from then on you unwind the knobs and stabalizers when you want to put it in or take out which will take 5 mins max Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Jenks I have cargo barrier/rigid boot liner fitted and no probs with tailgate closing.

Agree with npinks that fitting/taking out is quite easy once done a few times but load spacer cover is a tight fit. When fitting it I find its best to put load spacer cover in before you tighten all the fixings on the barrier.

Dealer fitted mine free of charge but I leave it in as I keep work equipment in boot and would not want a 3 section metal ladder coming into the cabin with two kids in the back in an accident! Disco 4 HSE SDV6 Orkney Grey
