2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Zermatt Silver

I agree with Martyn, 60 thou km per year in a Defender is torture, no matter how awesome you look. I needed a bit of refinement in my life. Since taking it to the meet on the weekend I think I have turned some of the others back from the dark ages.. I mean, side...

When planning a change I was looking for a tow car. I tried some others but it was only the Freelie that gave me a smile on my face.... Thumbs Up 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

The FL1 was too small (but excellent in every other respect), the Discos 1 & 2 both got old and a bit unreliable, the FL2 is just the right size for a geriatric like meself, the drive is a good compromise between car and tratter, it's reliable (!) and so far I love it. Best car I've ever owned (although the Rover SD1 came close).

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Zermatt Silver

1, I wanted something different from a 'car' Thumbs Up
2, Because it's 4 wheel drive Thumbs Up
3, It makes me a happy chappy with a smile on my face Thumbs Up
4, It's the best manual I've ever driven and I love the smell of clutch ( Censored NOT)
5, I love repairing things ( Censored NOT)

The car dose tick 90% boxes , The boot could be slightly bigger (it's not as big as a ford focus estate) and it could be slightly better of fuel, If i was to replace it !! It would have to be an auto (The clutch is Censored )
It's great in the snow.
I would love a Discovery but I think the running cost would be silly, and because of this it would only tick 80% of the boxes.
An Audi A6 quottro (avant) would also tick 95% of the boxes for my day to day usage I need from a car.

United States 2008 LR2 i6 SE Auto Whistler White

Here in America, we have two kinds of SUV owners: "Rednecks," country bumpkins who embarrass the rest of us with their unnecessarily huge vehicles that are borderline-capable of true off-roading, and "cute ute" owners who buy car-like SUVs and never go off-road.

I'm neither.

I wanted a smaller SUV that could handle my daily lifestyle, which includes living on a barrier island that floods with salt water, being an avid angler who drives his vehicle up on the beach to fish, being a news editor who sometimes has to cover a story in off-the-beaten-track places, and runs a local fishing/boating magazine and needs to deliver 10,000 magazine copies in a week!

Guess what? My LR2 does all of it, and beats the pants off everyone else! Call me snobby, but I also wanted something more luxurious and refined that the Ford Escape or Jeep Liberty or Nissan Xterra. i found it. The LR2 is the perfect vehicle for me. I can go wherever those big-boy-truck-drivin' dudes can haul off to, but also impress the ladies with the wonderful stereo, leather seats and satnav. Wink

I love my LR2 and when I've beaten the hell out of this one, I'll be first in line to buy another. Thumbs Up CAR HISTORY
