Hi i have just fitted a set of projector headlights and was wondering if there where better bulbs that the halfords ones as all the reviews i read say that their bulbs last for weeks Shocked Shocked Shocked

And they'd be wrong. Mine are now around 6 months and 20 -25,000 miles old (over winter) and they are both fine still. Not that long yet, but 20-25,000 miles certainly isn't "for weeks".

Well thats 1 off them blown already (H11- main beam) won't be buying these again, went back to halfords and moaned but got no joy, so called halfords customer service saying i was well and truly Censored off after spending £20 a bulb 1 decides to blow for no reason, eventually got a replacement with the "child: in halfords saying" we won't be replacing anymore, this was a 1 off" i replied "whatever"... Whistle

I'm not sure what you've fitted there, but you certainly haven't bought HID for that price Sad

I'll take it back! Alright, they may be used, but you appear to have a complete bargain here.

You're probably even with a good chance of getting the car through the MOT test too. Fair play.

It isn't a good idea to fit HIDs in the main beams - the warm up time is a very long time when you need to see what that deer is doing on a dark night up ahead. Just use them in the dips for safety and try Osram Nightbreakers in the mains. Cheers,

I'm intrigued about what improvements can be made to headlights, to improve the illumination of the road ahead, without dazzling other road users. But ... questions...

1/ H7, H11 etc ? What's that all about?
2. HID ? Uh? What are they & why would you have to remove them for an MOT?
3. How easy is it to replace the current bulbs with better ones?
4. Does it invalidate warranty?
5. Which replacements do people recommend?

Thanks! ...

Be true to yourself. That way happiness lies...

1.Type of bulb fitment.
2.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-intensity_discharge_lamp. if fitted in normal refelctor headlight(main beam not full beam) the clare is a MOT failure, if fitted in projectors no clare and can be set within limits, but still require, headlamp wash and self levelling.
3.Very easy, 2 bolts hold the headlight in and everything can be done on a work surface, then pop them back.
4.No idea, if you fit a parrot kit does that invalid warranty as its just an upgrade?
5.Personal preference i would say.

Thumbs Up
