Boowho.. you need to get to grips with reality. Are you from the mould of "I'm paying this amount of money for it and therefore I demand it be perfect" brigade Yawn

When any new product is released you will invariably have issues that did not manifest themselves during design and testing. When someone spends £350,000 for a newly built house.... will there be any snagging after it has been handed over...I'd put £50 on it Wink

Just get off your high horse and start living in the real world Very Happy

Just check the forums of any other manufacturer... you will see that not all is perfect just about every where Rolling Eyes

We had teething problems with the D3 but nothing major.

What you drive is incredibly complex. No amount of testing and shake downs will find every potential fault. Manufacturers continue to run vehicles way past the launch in a continued effort to discover issues before any customer does. Most of these will be quietly fixed during scheduled services, you will not even know about it.

And please remember. Forums are the best place to find issues. Thats one reason they exist.

We have 2000 odd (as in number) members over on disco3.co.uk currently. Most have never had an issue. And to be fair to LR, 2000 worldwide members is a very small percentage when compared to the actual amount built and sold.

BOOWHO, may I ask why you single out LR. is everything else in your world perfect, if so give me the location and I'll buy a plane ticket.
also the D3 had issues in the first build which are neither here nor there in later builds. just FYI

catweasel I thought it appropriate to talk about LR on a this forum rather than a forum for another manufacturer and I am afraid all in my world is far from perfect.

Do you ever get the feeling of Deja Vu?? Sorry to hear about your Freelander problems but you need to keep plodding on. After 2 Discovery 3's I now have one that works (3rd time lucky)

Find a good dealer and you'll forgive any niggles, find a bad one (and there are plenty of bad Land Rover dealers mention no Strat names stone) and you'll be really fed up.

Wink Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Auto Stornoway with Ebony and xenons was on order now cancelled.

Disco 3 HSE TDV6 Auto 2007 Model going soon

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey
..............

Holy cr4p guys ... what have I started !

Prior to the FL2 I had a a Mazda 6 Estate, a hugely underestimated motor in terms of driving dynamics and functionality. It gave me perfect reliability; in choosing the FL2 I anticipated that reliability might not be as good (LR & new model) I'm a realist!

OK, I didn't expect the motor to back in the dealers in 10 days, (I'm the first FL2 owner to take a broken car back to them!) but this is the point where you find out how good the dealer really is. I can't score my dealer 100%, far from it. However there are certainly SOME members of staff there who are bending over backwards to fix the problems and keep me happy. My car is a tool, I need it most days to do my job, the dealers has kept me mobile which is good. And I've been kept well informed about progress on my car, which is pleasing.

I will report back with full details of the problems/solutions as soon as I have the car back. In the mean time I would seriously encourage everyone to post any problems they have as this will allow others to look for similar issues on their own vehicle. One of of our members (sorry forgot the name) posted about the loss of gearbox oil, that caused me to check my car and because of what I found the car is off the road. Without doubt this saved me (or rather the car!) from having a breakdown on the road, I'm very grateful for that.

Canada 2007 LR2 i6 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

Well after experiencing some serious heartburn over these early quality reports (I am still awaiting delivery on my i6 in April), I took some of Simon's good advice and went surfing on a couple X3 forums. A sampling:

Creaking doors
Failed transmissions (<3000 mi)
Premature battery failures
Coolant leaks
Radiator replacements (after 358 miles on an 07 X3)
Engine stalls and strange "ticking" noises
Software glitches
Bluetooth failures
Doors popping open unexpectantly
complaints of "cheap" plastic dash parts
etc etc

..And my favorite:

a 2006 X3 that had an electrical glitch, caught fire, and burned to the ground Shocked

So Simon is correct. I think every manufacturer has a certain level of failure in their vehicles...even the over-hyped German engineered flagship brands.... Rolling Eyes
