Battery cover does not fit: it is too long

The battery cover on my 2010 Freelander is too long. The back clips on fine, but the front then overlaps the battery box by a couple of centimetres. The dealer has said often the covers are not a good fit, but this seems rather excessive.

This is my first attempt at posting pictures, so they may not work:

Thoughts appreciated.
Regards Rob

It's not pretty but there is nothing wrong with your cover, it's the same as mine. Take it off and then fit the front clips first. When you feel a bit or resistance, i.e. front clips have gripped, push down the rear clips and the cover will be on. It will still look like it is too far forward but is on properly. Not wonderful design.

It will fit if you mess with it for long enough, but dont worry because the dealer cant fit them either, mines always loose when it comes back, so I have to do it all again.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone...a bit if jiggling and wriggling and it has clipped into place both at the front and at the back. At the same time I did find the earth lead was loose on the battery, so a worthwhile bit of investigation!
