Yes it is the charger. Mine does it. It's something to do with the alternator or power interference over the audio. if you are an audio genius you can fit a cathode to you lighter socket which will stop it. I did this on one of my previous cars, as the subwoofer would hum! Very common on older cars too

Its not the charger and it not the aux lead..... because it does it when nothing is plugged in at all. (plus the fact I've used the same leads in my Volvo for ages without issue) I have even disconnected the aux port...and it still does it |

You started by saying "the auxiliary ports buzzes and hums" then you state " I have even disconnected the aux port...and it still does it"

If I Select aux on the stereo unit it hums. So to check if it was not a dodgy aux socket I disconnected it...and it still hums so it must be a bad earth somewhere??? |

Makes more sense now, aux input when selected hums, possibly the head unit itself, run a direct earth wire and see is the easiest solution, but I suspect it may be the head unit internally, many have hum to some degree especially aux inputs as they are not matched to anything and generally will have a fairly high gain. |

Too? I don't think that will fix it! |

Run another earth just to prove a point, simply a wire straight from the neg terminal on the battery to the head unit chassis, as Landy says, it is doubtful it will work. |

I think there is an amplifier somewhere in the car too, this would also cause a buzz |

OK..so after the main dealer said there was no fault..... They now agree there is a fault.....however even they dont know what it is and have been on the phone to the factory. Last time I spoke to them they were dismantling the entire dashboard but have informed me "they will not be charging me for all the time they spend on it" |
