Front seat 'pouch'?

So what are these for? does anyone keep anything in theirs? Does anyone else have them? Have you found yours?!

Were the mud is thicker, and the ruts are deeper.

I use mine for holding the mail for posting - I seem to forget to post them otherwise.
Passenger side one obviously........as it would be a bit hard to drive with envelopes sticking out the front of the seat.
