My Xbox 360 is 7 years old now and has been suffering from issues like a sticking tray. Bought Mass Effect 3 last week and first came to use it today. It stated that the console needed updating which has happened with other games but when it tried to re-start, E66 system error appeared. I asked a mate who builds computers and repairs xboxes and he said it is some sort of DVD issue with the motherboard. It doesn't mean much to me but he said for how much it will cost to repair, I would be best spending a little extra for the new model which now runs a lot quieter than the original.

So, it's just a case of finding the best place to buy, Amazon looking favourable. The only thing is, I need a Hard Drive transfer cable to put all my data onto the new drive. Anyone ever used one of those? I assume it's an easy enough process.

Also, has anyone got the latest xbox 360 and can comment on how it compares to the original model? LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

As wandering offtopic seems to be a perfectly valid thing to do here... I would suggest getting a PC and hooking that up to the TV instead.. There are obvious benefits over the stock XBoX if you have a pc with a wireless XboX contriller...

Don't have a PC. Just a MacBook Pro. Definitely going down the console route but I just wondered if anyone here has used the transfer cable process and can compare the latest console with the original. It looks like the latest version should be much quieter as the hardware is running at a much lower voltage (less need for cooling), and given that the southbridge is now integrated and all being cooled in the same way that you have a much better chance of having it stashed away without it overheating.

Im a PS3 fan through and through, not likely to ever catch me with an xbox

Picked up the new console today and it is a huge improvement. Very quiet indeed and a much sleeker and compact design. The hard drive transfer was easy with the cable I bought.

I got a decent enough deal, 250gb console with one controller and Fifa 12 for £199 from Game. More importantly though, I have started playing Mass Effect 3 and it is a bloody awesome game  LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

i bought a xbox 360 and then bough the kintetic thing, thought it would be great to have i my conservatory (man cave)

needs loads of room and if its a bright day (and hot inside) it doesn't work as the sensors can't see you

My lads used to play quite a bit but have just about packed it in or only play against some one they know now, to many pr were quitting games if they were losing or just pausing the game hoping the other person would quit as not to tarnish there own feedback and the abuse that would be sent either vocally or messaged.
