Cosford Airshow

After the last 3 years of p Censored ing it down, had a good day today.
Got some stunning photo's, I need to sort 'em now.
Must say the RAF memorial flypast is one hell of a tear jerker. And so it should be even though it's minus the Hurricane.
Well done to Arriva trains who charged the advanced admission on the day provided you travelled by rail.

Saw lots of FL2's on the car park.
Anyone from this forum? Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Took kids to RIAT last year and we all loved it.. I'm hoping to do either RIAT or farnborough this year although nothing planned yet...

I thought the show last year was amazing Thumbs Up Bow down

Anyone recommend any other air shows near the midlands? Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

Nope, sorry. Cosford is almost on my doorstep. Think they must be fed up of seeing me!

Had a look at the list of aircraft at RIAT most impressive.
I really enjoyed seeing both T3 & T5 Jet Provost which you will also see. Immaculate. Pity the old Vulcan is very poorly. I once saw six of them scramble, a noise I'll never forget. And there was a Sea Fury, sounded sweet as a nut, my old Man loved it to bits. Mum used to tell me that my Dad would have married one if he could. Dad left the RAF in '46 to join the FAA and often wished that Sydney Camms masterpiece had been developed a bit quicker for obvious reasons. Dads weakness for seasickness reduced his flying hours somewhat but he used to wax lyrical about the Fury. Said it was way beyond anything else at the time, unitl Mr Whittle changed it all.

What a great day. Donned on my Fathers old leather flying helmet for the RAF memorial flypast, saluted the skies, and cried like a baby. Poor Hurry didn't take part as it was p Censored ing oil everywhere.

Dunno what you think, but I miss the Harrier. Nothing quite like it. Typhoon is also stunning but to me no airshow is complete without the Harrier. Quite brilliant engineering.

Also got home and watched my recording of Moto GP. I know it's a different topic, but something else to be proud of in Cal Crutchlow. What a top bloke. I think we may have a Champion in the making.

You may have got the message that I'm British, patriotic and dammed proud of it.
And I still want to fly! That burning desire just wont fade one bit.
I'm going to do something about it next year! Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Pegleg - I very much share your desire to fly... Something I have always had ever since I flew gliders at our local airfield from a young age... I too want to learn, just not sure when / how!

I won't learn now but for my birthday a few years ago I was booked in for an introductory 2 hours session and to be in control of an aeroplane was the dogs b Censored s Thumbs Up

Also hearing a 'Merlin' engine at airshows is really something not to be missed, a unique sound.

Had a nice view of the Lancaster as he returned to base, a very low and slow fly-by at Derby airfield. He wasn't transiting with the Spits, we could just see one, well to the north, taking a different track home.
