Pairing G4 iPAD to FL2

1: Okay firstly let's get this clear - I'm not an IT anoarak or fan.
2: Paired my Blackberry Mobile no problem first time to FL2 Bluetooth.

So, this morning in my snail mail Postie delivered an offer from my mobile provider: an new G4 32GB iPad black or white for what would be the equivalent of UK 70pence. Thereafter, a monthly charge of approximately GBP24 would be applied and this includes all internet access fees and up to 1GB data download. Greater volumes than 1GB per month will be charged extra.

That's the costs. Now my technical questions are:

a) Can it be paired to the FL2's Bluetooth system so that it can be used i.e. upload/download (remain connected to the internet) when underway in the car?
b) What extra cabling would be required to keep the iPad charged whilst under way? Note: Her Ladyship already has an iPhone4 and a cable that charges it when in the car. Can this same cable be used with an iPad?

Or is the above total nonsense from this IT pygmy?
Expert guidance would be appreciated before I get seduced by this morning's offer.
Thanks

It would serve no benefit (if it was possible) to connect to the bluetooth as thats is for phones and the ipad is not a phone, and also there FL2 does not support AD2P Music streaming yet

I believe the ipad might draw more current than a iphone ( i know some usb sockets on laptops wont charge an ipad), so unsure if there is a requirement for the specific iPad charger in a car, but the battery life is quite good anyway

Your monthly subscription gives you constant connection to the Internet when not using your home wifi, or other wifi when available. As Mr Pinks says it is not a phone so does not need to be bluetoothed when in the car. I used one when in the USA and it worked perfectly. I don't know much about Swiss coverage but hopefully will be OK. Apple makes an incar charger for IPAD.

same issue with charging - reading the info the iPad (3) needs 11 Watts to charge it - so can't be charged by 'most' usb ports.

The car charger 'must' be powerful enough to supply the required higher wattage - so car must be taken when choosing one.

I have been looking for a dash mount for the iPad so as to use the SatNav - but might wait until the end of month when my phone contract allows me to upgrade to either iPhone 4s or Samsung Galaxy S2/3 (haven't decided yet!!!)

But I'll probably go for a Brodit bracket and holder Thumbs Up 2002 Honda VFR800

Gentlemen All
Many thanks for providing a very clear illustration of what can and cannot be done should I take this offer on board Thumbs Up (Best not show the offer to her Ladyship otherwise I'll have no say in the matter)

So the "fog" of IT war has lifted, but the battle field remains with lots of unexploded munitions for me to avoid. So before I say to her Ladyship the immortal words "I'm getting an iPad" can any of you clarify the following - all in relation to a very long drive:

1: Can I put my daughter's favourite DVD's onto the iPad via a USB or other porting device? I don't want to pay for internet download of films she already has Sad

2: Can the iPad be safely suspended from the back of a front seat headrest? Are there devices out there in the market place that hold it (simont mentioned brodit), other than a set of bungy straps Rolling Eyes

Thanks

It does connect via Bluetooth, but does not really do anything. If the new iPad had Siri you could prob use it

In answer to your first question - yes and if you have another apple device it's even easier, but also very easy from a PC using ITunes.

second question - not tried that but somebody will know.

The IPad is the most amazing piece of IT and you will not regret having one.

but i normally leave that to the kids and their fireman sam or Ben10, normally access my movies via appleTV which is slightly different

I use an app called Avplayer Hd for watching movies, just copy from my hard drive straight on to the iPad or Iphone

I knew this would happen - one says you can - another says you can not. Then up pops Siri jail breaking out divx wherever that is. Right, time to find out what you lot are on - take some of it myself, and then peel an apple, chop it into half n take a bit byte. I knew I shouldn't have read the "limited offer to loyal customer". Thud
