Looks as though I am OK as far as the list is concerned. Thankfully they repealed the "Adultery" clause ...although the Liquor Violation and the Mayhem bit may be a grey area

Indeed Ben, and a fine choice of wording "aliens" - you see we are not visitors or tourists, we're aliens and as such dangerous. And the USA, Iran and Syria have something in common - the death penalty - where in the three lands many innocents have been put to death by their respective judicial systems. Even innocent tourists. |

bigalf1961 I share your natural sentiment to protect one's family, but mostly when a terrorist strikes he or she does so without warning. The vast majority of such actions have taken the lives of thousands of innocents in many lands even before 9/11. The American administration by their own admissions gave little or no attention to or help to those who were affected by such atrocities. But all these victim nations, including those attacked after 9/11 have not introduced dictatorial measures against visitors to their lands. Russia has not done so, neither has Indonesia, Pakistan, Australian, the UK, India, etc etc. And, neither has any other nation on the globe insisted that the airlines flying to their land pass on to their security apparatus the 35 key personal and financial data that the US does or it refuses the airline's permission to land. Data that the US administration lost 6 million records of in 2008. No wonder personal identity and financial theft has increased dramatically since the inauguration of "Homeland Security". And finally and tragically, if you or I and our families were travelling on the Tube on that awful morning of 7th July 2005 and were in the wrong place at the wrong time you would sadly have been unable to protect your family. The individual is at greatest risk - not the state - and it is the innocent individual that has taken the brunt of the knee jerk "Bushite" reaction to seeking revenge. |

Exactly! It is nothing to do with questioning a country's right to protect itself, it's how it goes about it and remembering that the country has an image abroad which needs enhancing to attract tourists.

Last week, Diesel in France equated to £1.20 a gallon on the Aires, obviously cheaper if you get it off the busy routes. |

Woo hoo! That makes it a lot cheaper at M Leclerc! Wine will also be so cheap that I will have to drink faster to keep up with the exchange rate! John

Going back to the original question, I have had no problems in USA with paper licence, but more recently I had EU photo licence which is more an equivalent to what Americans expect to see. It will help with credit card transactions as well, because the "chip and pin" system is not used in the States.
