Dashboard vent blower problems

Hi all,

Just bought a Freelander 2 , 2 years old, from an non Land rover dealer. I've noticed one of the air con blowers (the one to the left of the steering wheel) is not working on the dash. The other 3 work fine. Is it a easy job to fix? The car is under warrenty but just wondered if its was something simple instead of going to the local dealer? Its the manual aircon/ heating system. I turn the little wheel thing from left to right but no air comes out of it, the other 3 on the dash work fine.

Many thanks for looking!

Thanks.

im no expert but i believe these are all fed air from a single fan so as long as the 'flap' opens when you turn the vent to open it should work as long as you have direct the air flow to these vents Confused

could always check with a torch that nothing has been stuck in there from the previous owner freelander 2 SE black and beige - now sold

Sounds like the plastic control arm has come away from it's ball mount. i had the same problem on the pass side.
If you remove the facsia top mounted grille, it does pull away, you can feel your way along to push the arm back to the ball joint behind the vent Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Just had a quick look now and the little flap doesnt open behind the grill. I reckon it will be simple to fix but I might take it to my local dealer (Rocar mores, Huddersfield) I bought it from Perrys in Barnsley (non LR dealer), didnt realise at the time that Perrys own Rocar mores untill a couple of little things needed to be done on my car before I picked it up and it was sent to Rocar Mores for the repairs.

Thanks for your help all!

Steve

Let us know how you get on Thumbs Up
I pulled the control arm off by accident cos I like pulling things apart.

Not much good at putting them back together Laughing Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Fixed the vent today. Had reversing sensors fitted today and the chap who fitted the sensors showed me how to take the speaker grill off etc (he had the tools). Like Pegleg said the arm had come off the ball joint. Took about 10 mins to sort in total.

Thanks again for all your help.

I pulled mine off while installing my Garmin - you can get to it from the side with the Glove box out too without too much contortion.
