Secret ICE code?

When I got my used 2010 Freelander2 GS I was messing about with the settings on the Alpine ICE. This included pressing the on/off button, and rotating the sound settings button, somewhat randomly. The usual menu settings vary across Bass, Treble, Balance, Fader, Subwoofer etc. However, I found myself presented with a setting called "Concert Hall" which gave a sound very much like being in a large auditorium. On another setting, the subwoofer sounded incredibly strong, as if someone was physically thumping the under tray with a big mallet. Subsequently I moved on to setting up the ICE as I wanted, and switched it off. I have since been quite unable to get back to that enhanced set of options. My LR dealer and the technical section have never heard of anything like this, and Alpine UK could not help either.
I seem to have stumbled on a secret sequence code giving access to a higher specification than I ought to have got for the level of ICE for the vehicle I bought.
Does anyone out there have any clues about the sequence of pressing knobs/buttons to be able to get back to and retain these effects please?
Ps: This is a serious enquiry, and, no, I had not been on the bottle.

Well, I guess somebody had to be the first to discover that the earth is not flat.

Be my guest, taztastic, but don't spend as much time on it as I did or the sandman will get you.

Does anyone with a FL HSE with its higher specification of ICE have anything to suggest - like whether their kit has these settings?

From what I've know, from other head units (VW for example), those settings are available if the head unit has a DSP (digital signal processing).
Maybe you've listen in that moment an MP3 file, and for MP3 files above 128kbps, the Alpine HU has the DSP activated by default.
The sole reference to this is on the page 259 (or page 90) of user's handbook.
So try to move through menus while listening high bitrate MP3s...

Alex,
Yours is the most plausible suggestion to date - thank you for your contribution. I have just burned a new .mp3 CD with some tracks at 256Kb recording density. Sadly, when the disc is playing, I am still unable to re-access the "Concert Hall" setting, so it would appear either that my equipment does not have the digital capability you suggested, or that there must be some explanation as to how I managed to uncover the additional sound field effects.
However, the tracks sounded very good at the higher recording density, and the quality was considerably enhanced even though the range of sound field effects was no wider.
Thanks to you all for your interest - and in the process I learnt how to attach an avatar.
Every cloud has a silver lining.

The code is: K46093 S1 T2
Any questions: Don't ask me as I wasn't in West Ruislip in the late 60's - address them to Dewey Bunnell as he released the code on June 30th 1971.

And, I'm still running from the man who goes by the name of the Sandman Wink

I'm sure there was a previous entry about 'Concert Hall' from the days when I first joined.

Is it a feature that is only available on DAB radios?

Drowned Rat,

Yes, your guess is correct. I originated the enquiry you found on your browser, and there have been no responses to it.

Regarding the "Concert Hall" effect only being available on DB radios, mine is not a DB radio, and yet I definitely saw the option on my display panel.

Somebody out there will have the answer.

If I could find the manufacture's model number for my car's ICE, and if I could speak the correct lingo (Japanese in this case?), I would write and ask the guy who wrote the Operating System software for it, and then I would have my answer.

Athelstan - Perhaps you know the sandman's alto ego - the nine o'clock horses?

My mountain is not topped with "blankets of cream" but folks on a Nantucket sleigh ride, and the "horses don't fly" but they do have "fierce teeth" especially when they have no name Razz

Best of luck in finding the code - I looked on her Ladyship's FL2 sound system and "Concert Sound" was not an option that I could find, Big Cry but then again anything resembling IT is lost on me Rolling Eyes So please do share with us all the code Thumbs Up
