Cyprus 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Sumatra Black
dashboard irritating noise

Hi everybody.

I own a Freelander 2, 2011 facelift since last August. Recently I get this irritating noise from the dashboard, like a tak tak tak thing whenever i accelerate or the road is in fair condition.

i don't get it all the time, it happens mainly when the car gets a few minutes under the sun. i don't know if that has anything to do with the plastic getting loose under higher temperatures?

is there anything that can be done to avoid this?

thank you!

A common source of a noise actually comes from a screw that helps retain the air intake, remove the indicator side repeater on the left hand side as you are sitting in the vehicle, there you will see a screw that may just need tightening up but not too much as it seems not to be able to take alot of pressure, use loctite or such like to make sure, the noise off this seems to be behind the dash but it isn't Smile I'm not saying it is this but it's worth a look and it's a free fix Wink

Ghyllie oo! Shiney!

thanks for the quick reply!! Bow down

now all i have to do is find the indicator side repeater and try this Whistle do you think the manual could help out a bit as to where i find this?

i am kinda crappy regarding these things but i will definitely try to find it and give it a go!

thanks again!

Look on the Left Hand Side Front Wing and you will see a grill with indicator side repeater, there is an identical one on the Right Hand Side Front Wing as well. Behind that (left hand) grill is the air intake mentioned by Ghyllie.

i took the car to the dealers cause the first service was due.

they checked the air intake but it didn't make any difference and they told me that they ordered a new set of plastics for the dashboard cause thats what it seems to be the problem.

i assume this is covered by the warranty right?

plus, can u tell me a ballpark figure for a regular service? i got 265euro does that seem logical?
