tv woes
satellite dish has failed so no sky , cant even watch recorded stuff on the planner
no probs, I thought use the digital tv aerial , alas water in the aerial lead, corroded cables
so watch a dvd , alas dvd played fails wont boot up
get spare dvd player, works but remote battery flat so cant navigate on screen dvd menu.
aerial man has been out and fixed aerial , but its a bodge job as water is getting in at the top of cable so it will fail if it rains
coming back after holidays to replace dish and lift it right to top of chimney, (over the trees) basically the dish now points at a tree so needs to be perfect to get a signal.
So I need a new dish , new aerial ,new coax cables new dvd player and a new battery WTF At work
At home

Sounds a bit of a pain but if it's all sorted together you'll be good to go.

tv in a car whats that all about , a car is a car when youve finished driving you get out, not sit inside watching countdown.
dvd player is fixable , needs two capacitors in the power supply did it a couple of years ago following internet instructions. Its a hard drive player so needs mending to access all the kids tv programmes stored on the disc
anyway at present I now have all the digital terrestrial channels and the dvd remote has a new coin batteryAt work

When ladder monkey, sorry Ariel erector comes to move the dish, make sure he uses self amalgamating tape not PVC electrical tape to cover the f plug on feed horn , otherwise water will get in..!! ( I have not had a single failure in over 30 years )and make sure he puts DRIP loops at the dish, and where coax enters the house (single coil of coax about 2 inch in diameter taped at the top )
When I replaced my dish a few years ago moved it nearer to the ground ,so when it gets clogged with snow I can send Mrs M outside to brush the snow off ... did,nt want her climbing any ladders when its Icy .. Wales
Were the mud is thicker, and the ruts are deeper.
(And we have the water to wash it off, and more on the way..! )
