England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Indus Silver

I'm off to the dealers today after fault code P244A has given me the reduced performance message (although the limp mode only lasted the first day and now it is back to normal).

Yes it was the 2011 MY. My car has one and its the only car I've ever had which has had to be recovered from the roadside. Why? Because a DPF sensor failed. The car was 5 months old with 4000 miles on it, 90% of which were 1 hr + motorway burns, ie long enough to regen the sensor. THe LR assist man said ruefully 'we get 5 or 6 of these a day now.' Fair play though, the car was fixed within 48 hours and I was put into a similar spec freely by LRAssist. 8000 miles on and no further issues, but I will go for a petrol car next.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

Hi I have a Freelander 2 2010 GS can anyone tell me where to locate the DPF if fitted, as I was told that not all 2010 models have a DPF.

England 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Bali Blue
VIN number - UK, EU and ROW (vehicles built from 2010MY)

Look at the VIN code displayed in the corner of the windscreen.
Character no. 8, if it is 'C' then you have a 2.2 with DPF, if it is an 'E' then you have DPF MY2011 Onwards.

This is from the workshop manual
8 - Engine A 3.2L Petrol
8 - Engine B 2.2L Diesel (low power)
8 - Engine C 2.2L Diesel with cDPF (low power)
8 - Engine D 2.2L Diesel (high power) - 2011MY onwards
8 - Engine E 2.2L Diesel with cDPF (high power) - 2011MY onwards
8 - Engine G 2.0L Petrol- 2012 MY onwards

Hi and thank you for taking to time to explain. The pictures you sent me were very helpful, and confirms my car does not have a DPF.

Thanks Dave

Totally agree with Bigalf1961. Never had a problem in 12000 miles and I do far too many short trips. There were problems with early DPFs but those were due to sensors and software which now appear to be sorted.

over what time period do you do 12k

dpf was also an optional extra avalible on my 07 hse when I looked at the list of extras provided when new,as luck would have it the 1st owner went for blacked out windows and head lights that turn when the car does,(whatever you call them) the cost was 750pounds for the dpf: Rolling with laughter

The "headlights that turn on" is known as Scandinavian mode (like Volvos). If you don't like it a dealer can change it. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.
