LV - anyone have experience?

My NFU renewal came through - £770 Shocked

They can't get it down at all so I have been looking around.

LV are £300 cheaper and still appear to offer excellent cover and they are Which recommended and Defacto 5*.

Has anyone dealt with them before and had to make any claims? Any good?

Simon

I have been with them for about 35 years and have always found them to be excellent. I made one claim in 1994 when some scroat broke into my car in an attempted theft and the claim was dealt with superbly. I currently pay about £160 fully comp on the FL2.

We can only say as we find....... John

Yep, moved to LV after 'more than' decided (through no fault of ours) to up there premiums to 'more than' i thought was reasonable (+£67). I questioned the increase and they said it's due to uninsured drivers Evil or Very Mad
LV covered the modifications of privacy film, towbar, body mods and wheel upgrade for no additional premium and it's -£32 on more than's last years cost Thumbs Up

Thanks for the replies. It's not always the price that dicates these things, it is the level of service and how they deal with you and it's good to hear of other's experiences.

NFU are great but their renewal this year is way above others and really non-competitive.

I tried NFU in the past and I too was shocked at how much they can ask. Everyones circumstances are different but as an example I am 57 and I have been with Direct Line for years as they have always been unbeatable in many ways. I have never used LV but I think that they are a long established company.

I tried some of the insurance companies that say come to us for their best deal " because you wont find us on comparision sites " Rolling with laughter What a load of Censored .The two main comparison sites came up with some fantastic offers which were to good to pass by.
Outcome, their not on comparison sites simply because there to dam expensive, we know it, they know it and anyone who falls for their banter will have their wallet hit harder than need be. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Based on previous experience at dealing with claims, I can wholeheartedly support LV. I'm with them via the CSMA motoring club from when I was a Civil Servant and now have both the cars and the scooter with them. I had been with Footman James for my classic bike policy (LV don't do specific classsic bike policies) but after changing to the scooter I was quoted £140 with FJ, minimum £83 on the meerkat comparison site and £71 by LV. Good service in the past coupled with cheaper premium makes a compelling argument. Very Happy Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto
Tricia's - 2006 Royal Blue Beetle Cabriolet Auto
Mine - 2014 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport Matt Black
Ours - 2007 White Bailey Pageant Champagne

With regard to supersparks comments, I paid £272.42 for fully comp with my partner as a named driver. Very few others came close to that.

Good place to be CG, band 'A' insurance for you, the cheapest going. Mines in band 'B' (although it was 'A' before I moved there Confused ) so can't complain when 8 miles away on the outskirts of Hull it's band 'F'

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red

Mines with LV and they handled my claim last year reasonably well but fell apart when i needed them to do something a little extra. Called me back when they said they would etc and escalated when it needed escalating.

They arranged a courtesy car quickly - another Fl2 HSE auto all the kit and booked my car in at a land rover approved repairer without any problems.

The only complaint I have is that they still put my premium up even though the other driver admitted full responsibility and his insurance paid out.

Don't be confused by the name - they are neither in Liverpool or Victoria but based in Bristol....... Question

I'm still with them if that is any indication of my experience of their service.
